Meeting Spiderman or Avenger characters?

My DD has recently become obsessed with Spiderman and the Avengers. Do any of them do meet and greets in the kids club at the Avengers Academy? And if so, are they only for the younger kids or can the tweens from Edge meet and take photos too? I was looking into the Marvel Days at Sea cruises but they are only offered January-March and those dates do not work out the best for us! Thanks for any and all Spiderman advice from those who also have Spidey obsessed kids :)

Hi - which ship are you going on? I have only seen Spiderman on the Magic during the MDAS cruise, and even then it was ticketed event (along with Black Panther and Iron Man - everyone else was out and about). But on the Fantasy (and only the Fantasy, I believe BUT it could have been the Dream also and I am just confused) they have a room where you can meet Dr. Strange and he does a whole thing with the kids. I feel like maybe I met Thor on the Fantasy too, but I can't be sure. This was not in the Edge, but in the Club. FWIW, the MDAS was an amazing cruise for us (we are Marvel geeks). We went in March and my son had to miss one day of school, but totally worth it.

There’s a Marvel-themed zone on Fantasy, Magic and Wonder. In all three, there are ship-specific activities that involve a specific character - Captain America, Thor and Dr. Strange. Kids over 12 can’t participate in those activities since they take place outside of open house.

On Magic, in 2017 (not a MDAS cruise), we had photo ops with Thor and Spidey. A look at recent navigators showed photo ops with Captain America, Thor, Spidey, and Captain Marvel on Magic non-MDAS. On Wonder, I see photo ops with Spidey and Thor. There are non on recent Fantasy and Wonder.

Can confirm the Wonder had Spiderman and Thor on our Alaska cruise a couple weeks back, but just in the Oceaneer Club.

Spiderman, Captain America and Black Widow were available for "regular" pictures on the Wonder at least 2x during our Southern Caribbean cruise in January

The wonder had Thor and Spider-Man on our Alaskan cruise as a scheduled meet and greet as well as in the kids clubs.

That was the case for us last year for Alaska. No Thor at the time though. We did meet Spider-Man, Black Widow, and Captain America.

On our Mexican Riviera cruise in Oct we were on the Wonder and did scheduled meet and greets with Spidey, Capn, and the Black Widow.
We are scheduled for the Marvel cruise on the Magic in Feb.

Thor and Dr Strange appeared in kids club activities in our Feb SWDAS cruise. And they were during open house times as I was there to take pics.

I was waiting until I had time to locate the navigators. During an 8-night Mediterranean cruise onboard the Magic we had some Marvel Character appearances (Captain Marvel, Captain America, Spider-Man, and Thor).

We met Captain America on the Magic on our March 2017 5-night (stops in Key West, Nassau, CC). On the Magic in the Med last June we met Thor and Captain America. In January on the Wonder we met Black Widow and I'm pretty sure I recall Spiderman meeting, though we didn't go. All of these were scheduled meets not in the clubs and none were MDAS. I would check past Navigators for the ship/itinerary you're interested in to get an idea of when they will be meeting.

Thank you to all who responded! I apologize for posting and not getting back to the boards--I somehow managed to get a severe upper respiratory infection in the middle of summer and it has been a long week!

We don't have a sailing picked out yet, my DD would love a MDAS cruise but if we cant make those dates work for us I was hoping that she would be able to meet a few Marvel characters onboard a regular itinerary. The October Mexican Riviera cruise is one we were looking into so that's encouraging that Spidey was on board last year! Her favorite is Loki and she saw photos of him on last years MDAS cruise but I haven't heard of anywhere to meet him regularly besides California Adventure. Has he been sighted on any cruises lately?!?

Did you go the week of Halloween by chance? I am going this year and Pirates is in Halloween night. Disney cant tell us if they will switch Halloween festivities to the 1st.

Sorry, our sail date was Oct 7. I think I remember reading on the boards that you can find out which night is pirate night by checking when BBB offers the pirate package. DM and I had a blast on this cruise. I think it was our favorite out of 8. Have a great cruise!

Yep! When you can book activities, look under “On Board Fun” and when Pirate League is offered, that is Pirate Night.

met thor on fantasy 11 night so.caribbean cruise in 2018, it was actually an event for adults later in the evening (after dinner) at one of the kids club areas..i checked it out & he came out, did a little sketch & then photo ops w/each guest.
so it is very possible for an avenger character to show up on a non MDAS cruise.

It seems like there is no pattern! From the first few posts I was thinking only the Wonder and Magic had Avengers/Spidey characters but then some had meets on the Fantasy too. Has anyone meet Spiderman on the Dream?

Is there any pattern? The pricing on the Wonder cruise we had picked out went way up before we could book so we are still hunting and hoping to find something October/November timeframe.

I’m gonna take a wild guess that Spider-Man may not be on board much longer... (the whole non-agreement with Sony thing.)

I'm confused by the whole Sony thing. I thought the Sony deal only applied to movie rights. Universal has theme park rights for the east coast but not west coast, which is why Spider-Man is available for Disneyland but not WDW. Beyond that Disney should have all other major rights to Spider-Man including with DCL correct??
