Meeting Merida using DAS??

Am I correct in understanding that you can only use the DAS for FP+ attractions?

Merida isn't FP+ (why ugh?)

So therefore my kid and I must wait for an hour if need be to see her fav princess?

You are correct, the DAS can only be used for character greetings that have a FP option. I would suggest just checking the line as soon as your breakfast or BBB is done. It might not be too long yet as those that were not able to get the FP for the other attractions they wanted might go straight to those attractions.

You can also have someone else in your group wait in the line for you while you wait outside of the line.
Since the line is totally open, you could join when they are close to the front - you could wait somewhere you can see the line so you know where they are or track the time and join the line when the wait is going to be short (like if the line is 60 minutes long, join after 45 minutes).

Ok I didn't know if this was generally frowned on like bad line etiquette or something. I might have to risk it though. Merida is her favorite princess.

If majority wait in line it's really not a big deal.

If one person waits and 7 join in it would probably annoy people.

I was there mid-day a few months ago and the Merida thing was completely empty. We literally walked right up and met her. You never know!
