Meeting friends at hotel

We are leaving soon for WDW and staying at Pop Century. We have US friends who are staying off property and want to pick us up for dinner one night. Can they drive up to the hotel to get us ? DO they need a pass of some kind?

They can drive to your hotel to meet you but they will have to check in at the security post and answer some questions about their intentions at the hotel and likely show some ID. Make sure they know your full names and the name of the person who is on the reservation.
