To make a long story short he is no longer employed..so I haven't been on because we have been figuring out WTH we are gonna do...it's been interesting but things are getting better now and sort of back to normal.

OMGosh :(

Sorry to hear that but glad to hear things are getting better.

How was HP???? It will be a while before I can get to see it :headache:

Looking forward to more of your report :3dglasses

So you ppl now about everything, I'm sorry about not posting sooner, Hope you like the funnies leave comments and love lots n lots of love!

My idea of a vacation entails me sleeping till the weee hours of the morning, i guess the only thing to get me out of bed in in this case is my wife.... ummm Disney, yea Disney. Kathy got up @ 5:30. Now im sure as any man can attest if we need to be somewhere @ 6:30, can be up by 6 maybe even 6:15. It was def easy to get to the park from the hotel can't complain.
When we arrived we did the tourist thing and snapped alot of pics. And was shocked when I arrived on Main st. Honey I Shrunk The Castle, as far as I knew, was not the newest attraction @ Disneyland. I then settled on, OMG they left it in the dryer too long. Snow White must not have taken into consideration that she has seven house guest and somehow I'm willing to bet they all responded to Grumpy after a visit.
After a disappointing episode of DTV Cribz, We hopped onto Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, who doesn't want Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, right? Followed by Alice and then Maelstrom.... I mean Matterhorn. I swear I kept calling it that the entire trip. Early entry rocked and If DW was up to it we prob would have done Nemo but the line was insane and it was 7:30. Figured we could keep taking advantage of this and go on Big Thunder Mountain It was soooooooooooooooo good It seems like the only thing WDW got on DL is a Castle the rides are soo much longer and better in my opinion its felt like when they shipped the package of rides to WDW they left out a couple of pieces.
Next set of rides was Haunted Mansion and Pee-rates! I love Peerates in WDW and was amped to see this one. I love the calm @ first and how you just feel teleported into a wet n wild ride of swashbuckling action! <---fan
I wanted to scream to everyone later on "Try the Gumbo!" DW did not approve. :confused3
jungle Cruise was followed by Indiana Jones, Indy was good but Dinosoar is preferred in this case, i think it killed DW.
We scored some Grub, the cinnamon roll was big BIG n good the eggs wasn't bad but then again if u mess up eggs you shouldn't be cooking
We drifted over to Cali Adventures after the food.
I really like Cali Adv, Its different from the other Disney experience and has nifty attractions to boot! We went on Monsters Inc, which I video tapped...somewhere It was really cool and I liked it alot! I was happy for DW to see it especially after just seeing the movie. We hit muppets which I love, (Jim Henson u my hero :cheer2: ) It Tough to be a Bug (my bum!) and got some Tortillas! I wanted to go again but DW said we should go back to DL we are gonna eat soon. I forgot it was in Blue Bayou. It was sooooooo nice. The scenery, the boats, the mint julep, the holy cow that is alot of food we just shared. We were a little rusty on the food porn so alot of the pictures are food mostly enjoyed. The gumbo is great! The prime rib was great! The mint julep was great! And we got to keep the menu! Blue Bayou FTW!
After awesome food I need a rest but as you know from reading wifey's Trip report it provided as much cushion as a wet sock. Over the span of about an hour every time i tried to nap maintenance showed up to give me an update which eventually led into big comfy mattress! We went back to DL saw the 50 magical years exhibit which i really liked! I went picture crazy on that but wife wont post them all, just go to her webshots page. Wonder if they are all there too. We went to Tomorrow Land (my cup o tea) and went on Buzz. I take my shooting skills very serious and would have liked to go on again but DW dragged me to carousel of progress, her worst idea yet. They had Xbox's, and nice T.V.! She just for fitted a Disney trip so I can upgrade my entertainment!
This was followed by (gulp) It's a small world. This is not my favorite ride for several reason. The most obvious being the song. I don't need that stress in my life. Its harder to get that out of your head than termites out of a log cabin. My biggest gripe at the moment was that I was in dire need of a latrine. I was wondering, if its such a small world, why can't I find a tiny toilet. At least i know if there was a tiny toilet it probably was not well hidden...... and use black tape for the love of the mouse.

Next Day

We headed to TL (is that proper) for Space Mountain. Im usually the one more capable of going on these rides, I was so darn sick by the end of the ride. The one in WDW was great but this one got me because of the lights leading one way and the movement taking you to the other. My eyes were close the entire time, thank goodness for a light breakfast. We did Autopia and took the traditional "No hands ma" pic. It did seem pretty longs.
Next came our breakfast,omg that was awesome! I am such a mark for Stitch and was loving his interaction with everybody and think I lost it when he sat down reading the newspaper.
There were so many characters and they were all adorable. I love love love these breakfast. Now ill pass it back to the DW!

Thanks for the update!! I hope you weren't fired b/c you dropped a box!!! That would be horrible! Pixie dust to you and Kat. :flower3:

Thank you all for the kind words... and for stickin this out with me! I am in the process of finishing the next installment so it should be up tonight, i hope. I ahve decided that in light of getting my brand new kitchen aid mixer (a bday gift) i am going to make...School Bread! Here's hopin' it comes out good! I'll catch y'all soon!!!!

OK. So I left off after our yummy and fun breakfast at the PCH Grill. The hotel was quite a walk away from DTD or any other entrance to the parks. We came out the main entrance, which was different than where we came in, and asked a bellhop where was the closest entrance into the parks was. Our plan was to go to Cali Adventure. This awesome bellhop guy took us in a golf cart over to the Grand Californian main entrance so we could use the back turnstiles there to get into the park! I’m pretty sure he thought we were guests of the PP Hotel but my tired feet told me not to mention that we weren’t! It was so nice to not have to walk. We were in the parks in like 10 minutes! We went over to the Animation Studio because DH was really into checking that out. We had just missed a drawing class going in so we checked out the other exhibits in there. What a neat place! It was fun and air conditioned from the hot afternoon sun! We went into the “Sorcerer’s workshop” and played with the neat spinning panels and headed to one of the coolest rooms ever! I am a huge Beauty & the Beast fan and walking into Beast’s Library was soooo neat!!!

DH I sitting at one of the stations in there. It asks you a bunch of cute questions via a touch screen on the book and it tells you which character you are most like! I was most like Cinderella (naturally lol) and KC was like Mushu from Mulan! We got a good laugh over that!

We then took a stroll down the block towards the theater where Aladdin was since I knew this was a no miss show. On the way we saw Sully from Monsters Inc!

6290katsully.JPG

We got on the short line for Aladdin and decided to wait it out. We were waiting in the orchestra section so I knew we’d have good seats! It was rough on my back but I made it thru. We walked all the way across the theater as to try and avoid the mobs rushing into the seats as fast as they could, and got 2nd row in the section right above the orchestra to the left side. Great seats! The show was fabulous! The Genie was hilarious and everyone was so good. It was a great 45 minutes! Afterwards we headed back to see about a drawing class again. We got in to the next one and we learned how to draw Minnie Mouse. It was a lot of fun learning how to draw her! I am artistically challenged but DH was pretty good. We liked it so much we stayed for the next one because the next character they were drawing was Tigger! DH loves Tigger! After that we made our way slowly to the exit, stopping in some shops and finding some more pressed penny machines.

We went back to the room for a much needed afternoon nap, which ended up being about an hour and a half but we were ready again and out the door around 530 that night. Now thru all my travels on the DIS I have seen talk and pics of Tigger Tails, I asked several cast members what they were and no one seemed to know! When we were leaving Cali Adventure there was one older gentleman who told us only in Pooh Corner in Critter Country could I find these! So that’s the first place we headed! I really thought DH would get a kick out of them and It was a sort of mission for me! We found one in the little shop in the way back of Critter Country. It was marshmallows covered in caramel then covered in orange white chocolate and stripped with chocolate to look just like an adorable bouncy Tigger Tail! It was a tad on the sweet side, i.e. it was a cavity on a stick, but it was good. We barely finished it but I was content because I had at least found it!

880tigertail (1).JPG

We rode The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, a ride we never made it to in WDW, and it was really cute! It was about time for the night parade so we headed to Main Street to find a spot. We ended up on a bench a little offset of Main Street across from the “Corner Store” near the circle at the castle end of the street. We are def not people who stress having the perfect spot for stuff like this. I have great zoom on the camera so as long as I had a decent view we were ok. DH chilled on the bench while I stood on it and took some shots.

One of the coolest things was on the back of the Lion King float there were these acrobat types people hanging from ropes on the float! So cool! We wandered around Main Street for a while then headed to our 630 PS at The carnation Café. What a cute place! And yummy food, to boot!

9090carnationcafe (1).JPG

652carnationcafe.JPG

I had the 1/2 sandwich and soup. It was a veggie sammie and it was tasty and the soup was baked potato with bacon! YUM! DH had the chicken club with potato salad. It was a fast meal but good. We got our Disney Visa discount too, that always makes food taste better lol. We decided since we were full and the crowds were getting a bit thicker we’d find a spot for Fantasmic and claim it. We ended up right at the bottom of the bridge across from where the show is, a prime spot. We sat for a while then some random foreign lady tried to squeeze in with us and the people next to us and acted like she didn’t speak English so we stood up and made it plain they were our spots! We were there for over an hour waiting so there was no way someone was messing with my spot! I show my NY colors when stuff like that happens! I will shoulder check you out of my way! LOL! Sorry flashback to my pro wrestling days… anyways… It was well worth the hassle! I wish it had a stadium like in WDW but it was a great, great show! A must for us! It felt like Disney to me! So great! They say no flash photography but several others took pics so I snapped a couple real quick like…

Once the crowd started running towards the castle for the fireworks show we decided to see how the wait for Pirates was. There was NO LINE! So we walked on and rode, much to the happiness of DH who LOVES this ride to death! The line was still short when we came back around so we asked to stay on and we rode AGAIN! Yay for DH! Then we went to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and rode it twice too! I almost lost my hat on it the first time! It practically flew off my head and I just made it grabbing it! We just wandered around looking for short lines and hit up the Story Book Land Boats. So cute! We rode Pinocchio and then Snow White. Anyone else confused about the ending of Snow White? It just kinda ends. I dunno. We were in need of a snack so we headed towards Main Street and got some Ice Cream I had a Mint Chip Cone and DH had a waffle cone with Mocha Almond Fudge and Toll House Swirl. We ate our ice cream on the way back to the room. We ate some leftover Denny’s we had in the fridge and went to bed around 1am.

Next up Ariel’s Grotto for Lunch!

Great installment Kat! I didn't realize DL had Fantasmic as well!! :thumbsup2

Thanks! Yep, its a bit different too, it has a Peter Pan scene in it and no Pocahontas scene. I have both soundtracks actually, and they are pretty much the same except for that one difference. Thanks for stickin wit me!

I hope all is well! Looking forward to hearing more about your DL adventure!:goodvibes

So much to catch up on and so little time, the up-dates were great.

Gotta love those Tigger Tails :woohoo:

A couple of years back they had a “Lion King” parade and all of the floats where like the one you saw, it was one of the best parades I have watched. :thumbsup2

I agree with your seating statement about Fantasmic, we do have a special seating area that if you get back out let me know and I will pass it on to you. I should have passed it on this trip, but I don’t think I realized that Fantasmic was going to be back from Refurbishment when you were out here. Sorry, :confused3 you can shoulder check me when you see me.

You both are doing a great job, keep em coming

I really liked the parade. I like parades but i'm not all "we have to get there and we have to see it". If we catch it cool, but this one was really nice!!! And it was a much needed rest for a while in the middle of the day too!

I looked into the Fantasmic packages with the reserved seating and all that, but it just wasn't worth the money to me! if you mean something else- I'd love to know where I should have gone!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I should have another update done within another day or so, i'm in the midst of working out our ADRs for our Jan/Feb WDW Anniv trip (our 180 days out is in August).
I did however decide to make us some of one of my fav WDW treats: School Bread as found in Norway in Epcot!!!!
773IMG_4313.JPG
It was yummy...somewhat a pain in the butt ...but worth the drama!!!!
Anyone gettin ready to read the Harry Potter Book 7 ?????? (Sorry I'm a big HP Geek!)
See Ya Real Soon, Y'all!
Great update. Really enjoyed it!:thumbsup2 My DH is a NYer (Bronx) and I know what you mean when you say "show your NY colors". We had a little incident last trip to WDW with a rental car...wasn't very pretty:sad2: But hey, a guys gotta do what a guys gotta do.;)
My DD would love the Beauty & the Beast library. Belle is her favorite princess. Looks cool:cool2: .
Best wishes pixiedust: for your DH on the job interviews.
Looking forward to more.:goodvibes
Since we were hardcore morning tour-ers (it’s a word if I say it is! lol) ;) we decided to relax and sleep a little. We planned to head to CA for their opening so we could have a little food from the mini continental breakfast and eat in the room. We had some left over Denny’s pancakes too, so we had those and some danishes and juice. I filled up my leftover cup from the night before when DH got me my nightly cherry coke from Denny’s. It was nice to relax a bit, we needed it, and so did my back!
Side Note: My physical therapist suggested some stretches to do daily to help me get thru and they actually helped some! Nothing is curing nerve problems and screwy disks but a little fix helped! End Side Note!
So we got to CA for the opening, which was kinda crowded. We headed straight for Soarin’ Over California. I love this ride! We waited all of 10 minutes I think. The only drawback is we had the second row, but what can you do!? We headed over to the Pier area to see about our free 5 X 7 at Ariel’s Grotto for having the Disney Visa. The characters there were Chip & Dale. We took our pics….
9832dl37.jpg
Turns out they gave us 2 free coupons!!!! :) So we went on the carousel because it was empty in the whole area. Cali Screamin’ doesn’t start to run until 1pm so we had a nice peaceful morning over there. We searched out some pressed pennies in the shops over there. We also had the “Great Sun Wheel Debate”, as we have dubbed it. DH really wanted to go on this! I, however, am not a ride person generally. I will go on anything Disney tho, I trust Walt. *giggles*. He swears it’ll be fun and that we should try it in the stationary cars. I am also not fond of heights; he tells me it’ll be fine. I tell him he should go on it if he wants and it’s fine with me, I’d be fine sitting it out. I try to remind him that when we have gone on the ferris wheel in the Toys-R-Us store in Times Square in NYC (its inside the store) I freak out! He proceeds to give me a guilt trip about how he wants to go on with me, not alone. To this I give him “blah blah blah” and we walk on. LOL! Sorry KC, I ain’t goin on no sun wheel! :mad:
After a quick relaxer on a bench we decided to go on Mullholand Madness. The word that comes to mind with this ride…Ouch! It hurt. Thru the whole ride I just kept saying “ouch my butt, ouch my butt!” :eek: Not recommending this ride. We decided to go get our 5 X &’s so we didn’t forget, apparently you get 24 hours to pick them up. The only place you can pick them up was Greetings from California. So we go to one counter and they send us to another. That CM adds the little graphics for us and we got 2 different versions of the same shot. It was free so whatever, its of no consequence to me. So they send us to another counter to pick them up. When we get there that CM sends us to another place…the mission for some free photos was nits! We just started thinking of it as a mission and once we reached the cashier with the pics KC said to her “The hot dogs are ready, that’s the password”. She didn’t get it but I thought it was hilarious! :rotfl:
Here are some Photo Pass pics from CA…
And a personal fav pic of mine….
4038IMG_1143.JPG
We headed over to MK. We got a kick out of riding the different things up mains street and it saves my back a little walking so we waited for the Horse Drawn Carriage. Our horse was Ernie. It was really a nice ride. When we got to the caste we stopped at the churro cart to try out these famed California Churros. Holy Yum! Now in NYC we have people all over the place selling these things so that’s why we were like “eh lets try ‘em” and not more gung ho about it. We were wrong!!!!!! YUMM! :stir: These would not be our last churros of the trip either.
8346churro.JPG
We went to Toon Town and took a ton of pics…
3312toontown (1).JPG
4701toontown (3).JPG
8682toontown (8).JPG
6434toontown (5).JPG
This place was soooooo neat! Way cooler feeling that Orlando, that’s for sure! It was so cool how well the toon stuff melded with the sky. We walked thru all the various things we could go thru and then hopped onto Roger Rabbit. We waited longer for this ride than any all week! The queue is loooong. Maybe we didn’t wait as long as we think BUT the 3 little kids that kept trying to get up past us probably didn’t help. These 2 mothers just let them run around over the line, it made me nuts. I have no kid issues but give them something to entertain them while waiting on a line like that and make sure they aren’t banging into other guests. I’ll hop off the soap box now… *hop*….
It was a cute and fun ride tho! We wandered, very tiredly and slowly, thru Mickey’s and Minnie’s House’s. We almost got on the line for Mickey but it was too long and we were closely approaching the time for our afternoon nap!
Some of the neat stuff we found in Mickey and Minnie’s houses:
7356IMG_1162.JPG
Proof we were tired!!! I was getting weak and only made it up until a side bench between the castle and adventure land. So my wonderful, thoughtful husband got me the one thing that could possibly give me the needed boost to get back to the room….A Dole Whip! After that I was good to go! Love that sweet pineapple goodness! We decided to head to Denny’s for some lunch since it’s a stone’s throw from the room and we could easily roll back there after feeding ourselves. We decided to try out the pool. Yes we waited the requisite ½ hour before swimming! LOL! The pool was not too crowded because it was around 4pm so we got a little swim time and then hopped into the spa. That was the best! My back was level with a jet and it was just what my aching body needed! What we didn’t need was to see a parent with a small child (the little girl was maybe 2) with a beer in his hand. It just seemed wrong to be the only one watching a small child while drinking. Anyways our presence in the spa with him seemed to run him out so he was gone a few minutes after we got there! Good riddance! We then took our much needed nap for a ½ hour or so and got ready again and headed to DTD for shopping and my most anticipated ressie….
Off to DTD we were! We waited to buy all our souvenirs for this night so we could get the Disney Visa Discount. We ended up spending about an hour in there! So much neat stuff! I tried very hard not to buy anything that was specific to DL tho! We got lots of good stuff! I picked out a tee for me, a shot glass for us, a shot glass for a friend at home who collects them, a magnet for our fridge, and the pressed penny book. Turns out we also qualified for the over $50 purchase item of a POTC lithograph and watch. If you recall, DH is totally into Pirates, sow e had to for only 10 bucks more! The total ended up being close to 50 bucks with the discount. Not too bad, any savings are good savings to me! We took our very large bag with us and checked out the other stores over there. We bought some yummy smelling bath salts at Basin for only 4 dollars. We got a Jamba Juice shake and took in some of the street performers. DH also loves Lego’s so we went to check out that store as well. They had some neat-o stuff in there!
8381legostore (3).JPG
4128legostore (2).JPG
8843legostore (1).JPG
So after seeing the nightly fireworks from the street in DTD, which was really neat, we went to our PS at Jazz Kitchen. I was very much looking fwd to this place, the food sounded soooooo yummy!
It did not disappoint! We got there just in time for the band playing too and we seriously enjoyed it!
3280jazzkitchen (2).JPG
I ordered a Mondavi chardonnay (I love me some wine) and DH had a Strawberry Lemonade which he LOVED! For an appetizer we had the eggplant napoleon. (Paneed eggplant, spinach & goat cheese napoleon: pan fried Parmesan, herb breaded eggplant, ;layered with spinach and goat cheese, finished with a gulf shrimp New Orleans bordelaise sauce) It was so good we remembered to take the picture only at this point…
1970jazzkitchen (1).JPG
For entrees I had the crab stuffed gulf shrimp (Louisiana gulf shrimp stuffed with blue crab, served with fire roasted corn and black bean salsa, pineapple popcorn rice and chipolte red pepper drizzle) and DH had the drunken chicken breast (Grilled chicken breast, marinated in brown sugar and Meyer's dark rum, served with horseradish whipped potatoes, wilted spinach and raspberry ginger demiglace).
2650jazzkitchen.JPG
The food was awesome! It was so worth the money! I really enjoyed this meal above all the others! The service however was lacking. Now realize I don’t expect above and beyond service anywhere, I just want decent service, i.e. remembering to ask us for a refill. When DH ordered his drink he asked what was non carbonated as he doesn’t like soda much. She suggests the strawberry lemonade; he liked it enough to ask for a refill. We were almost done with dinner and he was drinking my water because he had no drink. Finally she comes with the check and says “oh I forgot that refill, I’ll just take it off the bill”. To which we just nod because we were never under the impression that it wasn’t a free refill item, I would have liked to know that before it was ordered. None the less we would have paid for it if it arrived. Luckily we had the music to distract us. I understand it was busy but a little service would have been nice esp. since we both ordered expensive drinks with dinner. We were thinking of ordering desert but waited so long for the check we decided against it. Watching them make the banana’s foster at the table was cool tho, we would have ordered it if we stayed. And by the time we got out the express place next door was closed too because we were in the restaurant for over and hour and 15 minutes. Oh well the food overshadowed the crap service and I’d go back still!
OH! One other thing i noticed while we were there was that they threw out any dirty menus after people looked at them, since they were made of paper. So when we were leaving I asked the guy at the door if I could have one and he said "NO", I said "can I get a dirty one? I don't mind that" I think he felt bad for me because he gave me one and said "I didn't give u anything" to which I replied "I have nothing" as we stuffed it into our WoD bag! Yay door guy!
We were full and disgruntled and the parks were closed for Grad night so we headed back to the good old Desert Inn. BTW, they were practically strip searching those kids going in, they had metal detectors and everything! I did not envy the cleanup crew for that night! Not before stopping at Denny’s for a cherry coke for me and some fruity drink for DH. We watched some TV and relaxed and were in bed early because tomorrow is the last full day in DL!
It was def another one of those sleepy days. We had been going nonstop and needed some extra sleep so we slept till about 9am and slowly got ready. We figured we’d do whatever we hadn’t gotten to yet, which wasn’t much. We were in the MK by about 10am. The fact that the hotel was close by really was a great factor for us. The walkway from the DL entrance to the parks was longer than from our hotel to the entrance! It made the late days not feel so bad. We ended up spending a lot of time in the New Orleans square area so that’s where we headed this morning, in search of something for breakfast. We had had dreams of beignets from the night before we were hoping to find some! Café Orleans seemed quiet and the menu sounded good so we decided to try for a walk up. No problemo! We gave our name and were seated in the outside courtyard area in about 5 minutes. While we were waiting we saw this guy in the window to the restaurant…
4901cafeorleans (1).JPG
I ordered some yummy Mickey beignets and Dh got the AWESOME Monte Cristo French Toast!
This was the view from the table. We have several of these pics because DH was messing with our camera trying to figure out how to seam pics to make a panoramic looking shot!
2401IMG_1216.JPG
It was a really nice breakfast and it hit the spot! Since the night before was grad night it was one thing in the park…CROWDED! SO much so that everything you looked at had a line. Well as I said before we were doing the leisurely thing so we just avoided the insanity as best we could and headed over to The Pirate’s Lair. I have never been to Tom Sawyer Island in WDW before so I was excited to see it here! It was so much fun! I really had fun there. We wandered all over the place and saw all the piratey goodness! Here are some pics…
And one of the coolest photo pass spots ever! It seemed so random but it was a great place for us to have a pic together!
5856dl39.jpg
9394dl41.jpg
The PP guy told us at the end of the island trails would be Capt. Jack Sparrow. Being the dork I am I kept on saying “Arrrgh! Where be jack!?” KC seemed to get a kick out of it and if your husband laughs that’s all I need to keep being silly. We found the line and hopped on and 2 people more and they cut it off! He was very personal with everyone, having lengthy conversations with people. He was a decent looking jack but up close the mustache looked like a net on his upper lip. Once we got up to him he started talking to KC and ignored me! So I move in and try and get on his other side to get a pic (all the while PP guy was snapping away useless pics) and he moved! Later DH said he whispered to him that he didn’t wanna mess with his lady! He was greatly in character and was fun but all I wanted was a normal pic with him and this is the closest I got:
6680dl49.jpg
Here are some of the useless ones…
2633dl43.jpg
8648dl47.jpg
The handlers or whatever you call them, the people near him who were handling the line and what not were in awesome character as well! They ran around trying to steal things from people, talking with the British accent and everything! They made waiting on the line fun as I got harassed a few times by one of them.
We decided to head to the Tiki Room since it was super hot and its air-conditioned AND I could have another Dole Whip! Plus we had never done the Tiki Room before. I know, I know, it’s a classic and I have never been but don’t worry my feelings changed by the time we left there. We had a bit of a wait till the show but there were seats so my tired self was happy and DH got us a Dole Float and we relaxed in some shade and watched the courtyard stuff, which was cool. So without knowing much about the Tiki Room when we left we were in love with it! It was so silly but it was fun! We were sitting next to the totem pole too so it scared us in the middle of the show and made us giggle. Now we walk around singing the song!! I love that song!!!! On the way out of the newly loved Tiki Room we saw that Aladdin’s Oasis Story time thingie was about to begin, so in we headed. Again we got seats and got to relax in the shade so we were happy campers! It was cute, more geared towards little ones but still enjoyable for sure.
To Be Cont.... (many pics coming up and they need their own post)
We then made our way to CA since we had a ressie at Ariel’s Grotto at 2:10pm for lunch. We stopped for a new Photo Pass Opportunity.
We wandered around the pier and went into shops we hadn’t been in before and eventually we had no where to go so we checked in for our PS. We were seriously early but again there were seats so we relaxed inside in the AC! Can you tell by this time we were tired of walking?? LOL. We were brought downstairs at about 1:55pm. They were very organized. First you get ushered to your pic with Ariel in her ball gown.
Then they seated us. They waited until the entire room was seated before bringing out the characters. I thought ti was a great way to go. One would come out and then when they had gotten about 5 tables down another would come out. It seemed a great way to do it and I wished they did it in some places in WDW! While we were waiting we placed our orders. We had to order everything at once, btw. We both had the onion soup, whichw as good and we dipped the bread in it and it was even better. I had the Fish & Chips and Dh had the meatloaf. For dessert I had the Cinnamon Apple Specialty and DH had The Chocolate Cake.
The princesses were pretty cool. I def knew without this meal we would not have run into them so I’m glad we did it. Our fav was Snow White. She was so in character and adorable you just wanted to squeeze her! We got no pics with Aurora, she was a little weird, like out of character with us kinda talking just like some chick, not a princess. Otherwise they were great. We were pretty much the only table with just adults at it, not that we cared but it was something we took note of.
By now it was after 3pm, as the fact that they seat the whole room before bringing characters out makes the experience rather long. We were tired and headed towards the exit. Now when we were in WDW and had gone to character meals we were told by one awesome PP person at Ohana that we could go to a PP location and get those pics put onto our regular PP card. SO…this was my plan for the pics of Ariel we just took. When I got to the counter the CM tried to lie to me. He flat out said “I can’t do that in this system” So, somewhat annoyedly (sure it’s a word, call it a Kathyism) I said “How do you have a different system than WDW when their system came second???” He was kind of flustered and said he’d “give a try” searching. Well once he got into the system I told him exactly where to look: under the “Event” tab. All you need is the date and time for the photo and they search by that. Well in like 30 seconds there were our pics! There is an option to add all the photos. He knew exactly how to transfer the pics and how to do the searching and was trying to not get me to do it. So to all of you out there- it can be done! These are your pics and if you are planning on spending a lot of $ on the CD then you are entitled to these pics!!!! Go forth and conquer! OK I’m calm again. Here’s a very happy me after having gotten our Ariel’s Grotto pics added:
We dubbed it Photo Pass Hacks! (Remember DH is a computer geek so enough said there)
We went back to the room and I packed up most of our stuff so we could make a go of staying at the parks till closing that night. We headed back out around 630pm. We went to the WoD store in DTD because I decided I could find another tee shirt I’d like better. That was pretty quick, luckily. We then went to the MK. We got some Mickey head Crispy treats, one for me and one for our friend taking care of the cat at home. Since we had a fairly late lunch we had no plans for dinner. We decided to try and save some money and go to the Rancho De Zocalo because it was on the Disney Visa Discount list (I love my Disney visa!). I left DH with my order and went in search of a table.
*Side Note* We had decided that that morning we would get me a wheel chair because my back was really bad and figured the lousy 10 bucks was worth it for a day off my feet. When we got up to the line the price was $30! Needless to say I walked, however slowly, I walked that day! Why the heck is it such a difference in price I wonder?*End Side Note*
I got us a nice table in the shade and he found me easily in the few min it took to get the food. DH had a carne asada enchilada with rice and a cherry coke, I ordered a kid’s chicken taco meal which came with a fruit cup and rice and a cherry coke.
9453ranchodelzocalo.JPG
At first DH tells me to look at the receipt and we realized we didn’t not get the discount and he told the cashiers specifically for the discount. PS we paid for everything with the card so there was no question we deserved the discount. So we went back after we ate and he was very nice about it and refunded the sale and recharged us the lower price. Also this place gives you refills which was awesome!
At this point DH offers to go over to Splash Mountain and see about a fast pass for later that night since we didn’t ride and we didn’t need FP at all yet. I waited by the little shooting range place and we almost lost each other but I saw him recording a msg on the video camera to me LOL. It turns out he had to travel to a far away place to SM and there were no more FP’s. OOPSIES! So we made our way to Main Street to find a spot for the fireworks that night. We claimed a spot on the curb, being told by a CM that we’d end up standing eventually anyway. We met the coolest CM while we were there! Eric Flores. He was a Broadway lover and we chatted about shows for a while and he told us he didn’t wanna leave us but to remember his name and look for him on Broadway one day! So DISers you heard it here first, Eric Flores-Broadway Star, I knew him back when! I left DH to play with the video camera and find the best setting for the fireworks, to find a new tee shirt for me! I went to the emporium and found a really cool old school looking tee with a cartoony like graphic on the back. I got back to DH in plenty of time and we had a decent view of the fireworks, somewhat covered part of the time by a tree but I thought the video looked pretty anyway. I always cry at these nighttime fireworks shows!! I know I’m not alone but boy do I feel silly afterwards. LOL. We headed to Honey I Shrunk the Audience, another attraction I haven’t done. Actually back when I was 18 and went with some friends we did do this attraction, but I don’t remember anything about it! It was fun! When we got out it was so cold I gave up on staying out. I was actually shivering. We headed out at around 11pm for the hotel. Not before stopping for our last night time pics.
DH got me my nightly cherry coke from Denny’s and I packed us up the rest of the way and fell asleep. At exactly midnight DH woke me up to tell me Happy Birthday and give me a bday kiss and then I fell right back asleep!
Next up My 30th b-day!
So what did I get for my birthday? Besides this wonderful trip? DH got me a labeler! Ok, you may think it’s silly but I am an organized freak and I wanted one forever! I was thrilled! He actually snuck buying it for me while we were shopping with our friends in the beginning of the week! I’m hard to surprise so props to him! :thumbsup2
We were up at 6:45 am so we could get everything packed and into the lockers and make it my b-day breakfast at 9:10am at Goofy’s Kitchen!! I was very excited about getting there! I donned my birthday button that we picked up earlier that week and we were off. The lockers at the hotel only cost us 2 bucks to store all our stuff all day! Actually it ended up being a buck a locker but someone left 50 cents in one- yay for us! We walked thru DTD to the very lovely DL Hotel and relaxed by the Coffee Shop for a bit before checking in for our ressie. DH thought it funny that they tell you that you have only 90 minutes to eat. The food was yummy, every bit as good as I hoped! I really liked the selection of different things. We fiended over the eggs benedict! And OH the French Toast Creme Brule! We took a few plate pics…
The place where Pluto usually is was empty but we had a CM take our pic anyway!
It was fun but there was no organization with the characters so we only saw a few of them. We were also very far from everything as well. I’m glad we went because the food was great but if I was really into seeing characters then I’d have been disappointed. We walked around the hotel a little checking out the Never Land pool area and some neat topiaries.
Anyone else think a gardener made a cruel joke here?
On the way back we saw this guy and DH had to get a pic!
7325IMG_1275.JPG
We headed into the MK next. We were going to take the railroad to New Orleans Square and decided to stay on and relax. We rode it all the way from Main Street around and then to New Orleans Square. As we were getting of the train we saw a place called the Mint Juliep Bar…it drew us in! We found a seat in the French Market and had a much needed drink!
5448mintjuliep.JPG
We went to the shooting game next, for DH, who loves his shooter games! He did pretty well but one quarter gets you like 30 seconds! We decided to take a ride on the Pirate Ship! I thought it was very neat! We went down below and checked it out and had a nice time riding around the waters. We took some shots of NOS and you can see how crazy the crowds were!
6249IMG_1308.JPG
3492IMG_1309.JPG
We said our silent good-byes to the MK and headed to our last stint at CA. We stopped at Bakersfield bakery and got me an iced coffee to wake me up some since all I had that day was Nescacrap with my breakfast. I had an iced Costa Rican blend and it was decent. We headed to air conditioned Animation Studio and went to see Turtle Talk with Crush. It was pretty neat. Worth a peek for sure. We had several more hours to kill so we decided to see about getting any old seats at the Aladdin show, since we saw it already. DH figured out how to tape it without it making other people crazy! I’m so glad we taped it, it was great, again! The downfall was that there was no flying carpet part! Something must have been broken. The best part? It was 45 minutes! LOL. It was a long week and I love me some Disney but I was tired and missing my kitty and not looking fwd to the cross country flight home later. We took a few great shots of TOT (nope we never rode it cause DH isn’t into the sinking feeling and I can live without it) from the top of the stairs at the Hyperion theater on the way out.
Here’s DHs fav pic of the week that he took.
We figured getting something to eat so we don’t waste too much money in the airport would be good. So on our way from the Hollywood Back Lot to the Pacific Warf café we saw the Block Party Bash! DH took these pics…and we have about 10 pics of the green army guy LOL. Here’s the best of the lot.
And off for our last meal we were. I had wanted a bread bowl ever since I read about them on this here lovely DIS. So we each had bread bowls! I had the chicken salad and DH had the tuna. They were really yummy! Maybe nor deep enough but good. DH made a huge spectacle about eating his from the outside in and ended up with this strange looking thing but he ate it all in the end! We also got the Disney Visa Discount here too and they weren’t even on the list!!! Then alas it was time to head back to the hotel. On the way out a strange occurrence happened…a churro cart called our names and we were mysteriously drawn to it and mentally forced to buy one for each of us! Must have been the churro fairies! We reluctantly walked back to the hotel and got our luggage from the lockers. We went to the lobby to relax while we waited for our cab to get there. We had the hotel call for the cab earlier in the day. The car was actually early and was a town car not a yellow cab. It was a fast trip to the Long Beach airport, maybe 20 minutes! Unfortunately it cost us 60 bucks but we knew it going in and at that point I just wanted to get there and didn’t care.
It was an odd airport, small to say the least after being in LaGuardia and LAX and even Denver the past week. We went to check our bag and it was over weight by about 8 pounds so we opened up the suitcase right there and used the extra bag I brought just for this reason, and filled it up. We made the weight limit with no extra charge. We did bring our dirty laundry on the plane but it was easy to grab! LOL. We made it thru security and after almost stopping at several spots we found our gate and relaxed. Our flight left at 930pm. We had to walk out on the tarmac to get to it. Weird. The seats were decent and the fact that we had TV this time saved my life. I settled in to some home decorating shows with my stitch plush and we were off for our 6 hour flight.
The only other story I have for you is about our cab ride home. We left a little late from LBA so we landed at about 6am our time. We had called the cab company at home(the same one we used to get to the airport a week ago) and arranged for them to pick us up at 6am. We also had a coupon we mentioned on the phone and they told us no problem. It was a coupon for $35 for the ride. When we landed KC calls them to say it will be a few until we get our luggage. Turns out the guy sent them to our house not the airport but he said no problem he’d send someone now. So by the time we get our luggage the guy should be there, it’s a 20 minute drive. We got out about ½ hour later and they had called the guy was looking for us. We finally find him and he seems fine, asks us what happened and says he had to drive around because they wouldn’t let him stop. At the time I had $40 bucks in my wallet (this should have been enough for ride and tip). We had used the credit card for everything because I hate to bring cash when we travel. So we get to our house and they guy says $65 bucks! HUH??!!! He proceeds to say something about waiting time and parking and some other load of total whooey. We go so far as to call the company (which is 2 blocks from our apt) and they say they didn’t realize we had the coupon and that a pick up is more so the fare is $45. That’s fine no problem. I hang up. We don’t have enough so KC goes around the corner to the ATM. When he gets back he asks the guy if he has change of a $20, he says NO and still insists that we owe him $65. I am screaming, DH is telling me to “chill” repeatedly. KC tells him I will give you 50, NO MORE. But with no change we just literally threw $60 bucks at him and cursed our way home. I called the company shaking with anger and told them the story and he said he’d talk to the guy. Whatever!. So he got a 20 dollar tip when I wouldn’t have tipped him at all.
Once we got home and cleaned up the cat puke and the litter box and gave the cat some much needed water and love we passed out for many, many hours!!!! The End! :hug: :grouphug: :hug: :grouphug:
Thanks all for reading this! I am in the process of planning our next trip which went from being our 3rd anniversary trip to a 2 part trip of anniv and bringing as many friends as we can convert to Disney lovers with us! Look for it on the WDW TR boards!
Awsome trip report, loved the photos!! Would you mind explaining exactly how you got your character meal photos onto your photopass please. DH and I are going to use photopass a lot when we visit (we have never used it before) and are planning to have our 1st ever character meal so I would love to get any photos from there put onto the photo pass.
Thanks
Ok all you have to do is go to one of the Photo Pass spots in one of the parks and ask them to search your pics for you. Most people have ADRs so you already know the date and the approx time you were there, just tell the CM and they will search it for you. If they have any trouble searching tell them to look under the "event" tab, they should know where that is in the system. If not I'd say try again at another spot because they can do it but sometimes it takes a few minutes to do and if they don 't want to go above and beyond then they won't, u follow? I hope I helped! Feel free to ask any more questions if you have them! Thanks for reading!
