Meeko's Walt Disney World Trip December 2004
After a pleasant day visiting EPCOT and Disney-MGM Studios, it seemed almost too soon for the trip to be over.
Morning broke at the Boardwalk Inn- the last morning I would get to spend there for this trip. While yesterday was a wonderful day in the parks, this morning would be spent looking at the Christmas decorations around the EPCOT resorts. To start off the day, I was thinking about getting some breakfast at the Yacht or Beach Club, but eventually just decided on getting a quick breakfast at the Bellevue Room instead. This has to be one of my favorite out-of-the-way places at Disney World to just sit and relax for a little while in the morning. The 1930s era décor is charming and theres nothing like starting your day by sitting down at one of the tables there and listening to Bing Crosby and the Andrew Sisters on an old-fashioned radio. Very nice.
After breakfast, it was out to the lobby to see the decorations there. The gingerbread amusement park they have here is always so cute. After looking at it, I headed off to the Beach Club. On my way, I noticed the little carousel in the Boardwalks lobby was playing music. Maybe Im just the most non-observant person in the world, but I never heard it play music before. It was playing standard Disney tunes- Second Star to the Right, Ive Got No Strings, and Its A Small World- ones that you would expect to hear on the carousel in Fantasyland. Then, all of a sudden, it switches to songs like Davy Crockett and Grim Grinning Ghosts. I thought that those seemed like odd choices for a carousel, but then it hit me. The music was a band organ version of the Fantasy in the Sky Fireworks that were at Magic Kingdom before Wishes! I thought the arrangements sounded familiar, but I figured they must have the same ones they use on Cinderellas Golden Carousel in Fantasyland. How neat that they are able to keep using that music even after the show is replaced.
It was off to the Beach Club, and the decorations were very nice. I had heard about their giant carousel before, but I think it might have been even bigger than I though- and spinning too! There were also plenty of Hidden Mickeys on it which were fun to look for. The Beach Club defiantly was decorated nicely for the season as I though it would be. After that, it was off to the Yacht Club. On the way, I passed by Cape May Café and noticed the characters in their beach attire roaming the restaurant. I guess the character breakfast was in full swing by that time in the morning.
The Yacht Club was next. I had meant to visit this resort on my previous trip when I had dinner at Cape May, but never had the chance to go over. This time, I defiantly wanted to see it. The whole ambiance of the resort was a little different than I imagined. Nice, but I think I prefer the Beach Club over the Yacht. Still, it was neat to see. The ginger bread village was very elaborate and interesting. You could spend a long time just looking at that! Still, after a while I had to get going. Before leaving though, I checked the Yacht Club gift shop to see if they had any pins of Flik from A Bugs Life. I had been looking for a pin of him since the character personality test at Disney-MGM Studios said I was most like him, but had thus far been unsuccessful in finding one. No luck here either. Oh, well. As I was walking back to my room to check out, I checked once more at the Boardwalk gift shop. Wouldnt you know they had Flik pins there all along right under my nose? Ahh
a happy ending to the search, not to mention the trip. Soon, it would be time to say good bye to my favorite Disney resort after a very pleasant time there.
