Meeko's Walt Disney World Christmas Trip 2001
It's been a busy, yet wonderful holiday season, but I have now begun to post my trip report from Last weekend. I have included some of the pictures I took while I was there on my reports since everyone seemed to enjoy them on my last one. They're not the best, but I hope you will like them.
It was a very early morning arriving at the Polynesian Resort at 7:45 After checking in, I was able to take my bags to my room and discovered it had an unbelievable view. It was in the Samoa building and had a beautiful view of the Volcano pool, the Seven Seas Lagoon, and the Grand Floridian Resort. After that, I went up to the Great Ceremonial House for some breakfast at the coffee bar by the Kona Cafe. Soon, it was on to the Monorail Station and to the Magic Kingdom.
After going through security check (which was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be from what I've heard) I started on Main Street. The tree in Town Square was just as beautiful, and full of characters. Next, I went over to the Town Square Exposition Hall, one of few attractions I had never seen. I have to say, I was disappointed when the Main street Cinema turned into a gift shop, but this made up for The exhibits were interesting and there were seats in the theater (which the Cinema did not). After that, it was through Cinderella Castle and on to Fantasyland
I decided to focus this visit to the Magic Kingdom on primarily attractions I had never or had not done in many years. My first stop would be Snow White's Adventures. Next, it was off to It's A Small World. This is one I had not done for many years and it was just as enchanting then as it is now. I believe that there was a new scene added of, if I can recall, a Jewish wedding. I don't remember when they added this, but I think I heard it was this year.
After Small World, it was off to Liberty Square to do the Liberty Bell Riverboat, another attraction I had not done in ages. I was very impressed with it. There was much more scenery on the Cruise than I remembered. The narration on the back story of Frontier and is very interesting as well. Next it was on to Adventureland to see another attraction I never seem to get back to, Swiss Family Treehouse. While it's by far not the flashiest attraction in the park, I enjoyed it. It was nice to take some time out and do some of these attractions and not have to worry about getting a FastPass for Splash Mountain and battle lines in Tomorrowland. Next, it was on to two old favorites, Pirates of the Caribbean and the Walt Disney World Railroad. Both where wonderful and it seems the Indian Village on the Railroad has been expanded to the other side of the Railroad tracks. When did this happen? I wonder where all those animatronics came from (maybe recycled from World of Motion or Horizons?)
After the Railroad trip, I did a little more exploring Main Street, including the new section of the Emporium, which isn't all bad. It may not be Flower Street, or whatever they called the side street that use to be there, but at least it's a vast improvement over the construction that was there last Summer. It was nearing 11:30 am, so it was time for me to leave Magic Kingdom and take the Monorail to "Holidays Around the World" at EPCOT.
