Meeko's Walt Disney World Christmas Trip 2001
It's been an unbelievable weekend so far. Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney-MGM Studios all in the same day.
It was a big day yesterday, so I slept in a bit. I usually start my days at Disney by watching vintage Disney cartoons on the Disney Channel, but I skipped it today since I was so tired and they moved them from 5 to 4 am.
After finally getting up, it was down to the Great Ceremonial House for a little breakfast at Captain Cook's. On my way out I noticed that the Character Caravan had arrived. Minnie Mouse, Captain Hook, Mr. Smee (it seemed like he was everywhere!), and Baloo were all out in the lobby.
I proceeded out to the beach and looked around. The Polynesian was a beautiful Resort, but one of the best parts was hearing the train whistle from Magic Kingdom and watching the monorail pass by. You feel like you're right in the middle of the magic.
It was getting late and it was time to leave, but the last stop would be Downtown Disney Marketplace. All the shops were surprisingly empty. Most of the time I have been here at the holidays, there's always been tons of locals here doing their last minute Christmas shopping. Perhaps the 23rd was too close to Christmas to still be doing Christmas shopping or maybe they were shopping online. Whatever the reason, all the shops were very manageable to go through. Plenty of 100 Years of Magic merchandise as well.
After looking around a bit, it was time to get going. There was still things to do at home to prepare for Christmas. On my way out, I noticed this sign at the Captains Tower Shop. I thought it was interesting because I had a clip art version of that picture on my website, so I thought it was an interesting way to end a wonderful trip with a holiday wish, so as it says "To all of you- A Very Merry Christmas" (and Happy New Years).
Thank you for taking the time to read my trip reports from my weekend at WDW and I appreciate all the replies everyone has posted. I am very glad you have enjoyed them all.
