Medication Warnings..

We have often laughed about med warnings. The one we thought was funny was the "not to be taken internally" on the Preparation H box. You know someone had to have tried it at least once for them to put that on the box!

I never got why it says "do not use if you have kidney disease" on the back of deoderant. :confused3

I think that might be because most deodarants have aluminum and it can get absorbed through the skin, and aluminum can cause some sort of bone problems in people with kidney disease. Although I don't think you absorb that much through your skin, but it's probably a CYA thing.

oh.... i get it now. Thanks!!

I was told only to take it for 2 weeks.. Then I have to go back to the DRs.. She also only gave me pills in 10mg form. It's rapid release form are they all the same? :confused3 I'm more worried about raiding the frige then going for a drive but, it's still scary..

I HATE Ambien. It makes me sleep alright... But its almost like anesthesia! I was knocked out and couldnt be woke up. Hate that feeling. I always told my husband not to forget about me if the house caught on fire.

I'll never take it again.
I take Benedrl and it works just fine.

(I never raided the fridge. I was in a coma!)

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but how about:

"Warning: Coffee may be Hot" on the McDonald's coffee cups because that idiot woman sued them after burning herself on a cup of coffee? Isn't coffee supposed to be hot? If ordering a hot beverage, wouldn't you expect it to be hot? Are you three? jeezluweez.:confused3

Someone sued Mc D's for burning on their coffee. That's why the warning now exists.

DH is very allergic to benedrl so we don't keep any of it in the house, just in case.. His Mom found that out the hard way when he was young :guilty:

Sometimes I laugh at those meds commercials because the list of possible side effects sound worse than having the actual disease.

Yea, the commercial starts off great...than the END with the side effects gets me Everytime!;) I hope I never have: A. Restless leg syndrome B. COPD C. Herpes D. High Colesteral...if so I am DOOMED cause I would NEVER take those meds.:headache:

Or bipolar disorder, because I saw a commercial for that and it said, for that particular medication, it could make you have a serious medical condition (in which I forgot) but it could lead to coma or death.

I'd rather live with bipolar disorder.

My mom does fine on the regular ambien but on the CRambien she gets physically ill so everytime we get a new perscription I have to make sure it is not the CR one. She has been on it constantly for the past 6 years- no sleep driving or eating for her LOL.

How about the med that solves the problem of yellow toenails but could give you liver damage.

Uhh sign me up for yellow toe nails please!:thumbsup2

Thank You, you are the 1st one that told me they haven't had a problem with it. I'm still nervous and haven't tried it, cause I was in WDW from Thursday til today. I didn't want to chance anything.

Maybe I should have DH hide all the keys from me, just to be safe :confused3

I'll second the "be careful". I took Lunesta for a month (slept like a rock for 30 days--as far as I can remember anyway!!) and tried to wean off it-YIKES! The rebound effect and the withdrawal symptoms were terrible for 48 hours. I will not be taking any more prescription sleep aids. Scary time!

I was recently prescribed Lunesta and haven't gotten the script filled yet.. I don't like some of the listed side effects - and I really don't like the whole "amnesia" aspect.. That could be very, very dangerous..

Think I'll stick with the valium at bedtime..

Oh yeah, I hear ya. I officially cannot be prescribed anything these days because every commerical I see has a glaucoma warning. While I don't have it yet, its just a matter of time cause i'm not far off.

And I love the warnings that mention death. Pardon me, but it that what the med is suposed to prevent??

NO thanx, I'll just die like this ok. Its better that way.

We should all pay closer attention to those warnings. I got very sick from taking AmbienCR. It took months for me to figure out what was happening. While taking it, I felt terrible. I had I chronic nosebleeds, severe gastro-intestinal problems and I lost 30 pounds. I slept well, but it wasn't worth the other problems. It took me a long time to figure out that it was the Ambien causing my problems because they came on gradually. Once I stopped taking it, all my problems went away. I know this could happen when taking any drug if you just happen to have some type of allergy to it, but we are really too quick to jump to drugs for our issues.

Amnesia effects are so weird, I recently had surgery, and while I wasn't put to sleep, I was given something that had an amnesic effect so I wouldn't remember the surgery. I actually asked if I could watch the surgery, but they told me no chance. What's so weird is that I remember talking to the anesthesiologist at one point as the nurse was cleaning my arm, next thing I know, I'm in recovery talking to the nurse, and I had no clue how I got there. And I was actually talking to the nurse, having a converation with her and everything, but no clue what I said. It's so weird having a portion of your memory basically wiped out.

I also learned the hard way that I can't take any narcotics, not even the minimum dose. Those side effects almost caused me to go to the ER.

Unfortunately there are a lot of stupid people out there and they need these warnings. My Dr was telling me about a few of them. One woman brought her baby in because her eyes were all red. Turns out she was putting infant tylenol in her eyes (the baby had an ear infection) because it came with an eye dropper. These are WHY they have the warnings on packages.
