Does anyone have any experience with polyps in the sinuses?

Now the story: I went to a walk-in treatment center on Halloween. Xrays were done and I was diagnosed with a sinus infection, given antibodotics and sent on my way.

Today I'm sitting in the exact same walk-in treatment center for my dd13 who had a cough. My phone rings, its the medical office (that Im sitting in:rotfl:) They tell me they made an appointment for me to see an ENT next week. What????? Why??? Thinking they may have the wrong number I inform the girl I"m sitting right in front of her in the lobby and what the heck is she talking about.

She informs me that the x-rays showed a large polyp in my sinuses and the doctor referred me to an ENT. Nice, but he NEVER EVER mentioned that to me!!!! So I take the appt infor and hang up. She calls me back 2 minutes later, she is literally 2 feet away from me:laughing:Hello???? So I walk up to the counter so she can see I"m talking to her. I get a copy of my xray report and she apologizes-they had been dialing a similar number to mine and leaving messages!!

Now I'm 1. Nervous about what they found; 2. Mad they clearly were leaving my personal information on a stranger's cell phone; 3. the stranger couldn't be bothered to call the dr to tell them it was the wrong person.

Ok, so now I need help. I go to the doctor on Tuesday, but of course I can't find anything on google. Since you guys here are the next best thing to Doogie Houser I'll tell you what the report says :There is a polyp versus retention cyst in the right maxillary antrum that occupies greater :scared1: than 50% of the volume of the maxillary antrum.

Any ideas?

I don't know what it was called - what the size was - all I know is that my older brother kept having sinus issues like crazy after he moved to Florida.. He went to an ENT, they found a polyp in his nose, they removed it, and he said from that point on he was able to breathe through his nose.. Apparently, his entire life (he's now in his late 60's) he was never able to breathe through his nose!

Oh - and he doesn't snore anymore - LOL..

Best of luck to you..:goodvibes

What is your question?

My mom had sinus surgery probably 20yrs ago and never had an issue after that.

Good thing they found it.:thumbsup2

First, they would not have left personal information on a stranger's cell phone-they would have left a message stating that they needed you to call back to discuss your test results-that is in no way "personal" information. Second, people make mistakes, period. Third, xrays done in walk up centers are often sent out to a radiologist to be read and you don't always get the information right away.

A friend's DD had a large polyp removed in high school and until it was gone had no idea that she really wasn't breathing through her nose. She said it was the best thing she ever did.
