medical marijuana

If those "legal" drugs are prescribed without need, theyre "illegal"
Are you aware that Cocaine can be prescribed?
Are you aware that I don't care? I am not against "valid" use of any drugs. I am against the "culture" associated with those who claim to use them for valid reasons but are infact only after a high.

More then you would believe

I am not against "valid" use of any drugs. I am against the "culture" associated with those who claim to use them for valid reasons but are infact only after a high.

The culture has nothing to do with it's use as a medication. The culture will be there for pot, or any other drug.

I am not saying everyone who uses it for valid medical reasons is part of the pot culture.

But, at least where I live, there is a definate culture/sub-culture of those who have medical cards just so they can say they can "legally" smoke it. These are the people who I have issues with.

So you are absolutely sure they have zero medical need for the substance?

Because they "brag" about having medicinal pot, they dont have any illness that requires the pot?
Is that correct?

One more time...They brag that they have the card, not for a medical reason, but so they can "legally" smoke pot. Like I said all you have to do to get the medical card is go to the "special" doctor, pay your $100 and you are the "proud" owner of a medical card.

So theyre bragging they got the card illegally?

Maybe you should inquire about what 'special" doctor so you can get a card, and then, turn him in.

Well, the states rights versus federal law issue probably is too political for this board, in my opinion the U.S. Supreme Court needs to review it.

Like I posted, besides that, the real issue in California right now is many of the dispensaries are operating illegally. Or so say state officials. Many have started shutting down because it's hard to claim to be "non-profit" (which is a requirement under Prop 215) when your clinic has $700,000 in cash in their bank account.

That is something I never got. Why didn't California, or anywhere else actually, just add pot to the inventory behind the pharmacy counter and require the same doctors that would prescribe everything else to be the ones that prescribe medical marijuana? It would get rid of the shady dispensaries because the Targets and Walmarts of the world aren't going to risk their companies to hand out illegal marijuana. It should be treated like every other drug that is available by prescription that is off label.

Great question. And I never understood why smoking marijuana is preferred to just taking THC tablets. Those ARE available through main stream pharmacies by prescription.

Well we can't discuss politics, but I can tell you that if you ask yourself who has the most to lose if there is suddenly a much more affordable option to THC tablets you may have your answer to why there is no "natural" form of THC stocked on pharmacy shelves.

I don't know what the answer to all this is, I think people who really do need this drug should have access to it, but the problem is that right now ANYone can get a card to get it, and trust me, MANY of them don't have a valid reason to have one.

I live in the epicenter of the Pot culture. Marijuana farming is what drives our local economy. I don't know if it's because it's not "legal" everywhere and this place is so laid back on enforcing those particular rules, but let me tell you, it definitely draws a crowd, and it's not pretty.
I have never in my life seen so many homeless people, hitch hikers, petty theft, and just all around "scary" looking people.
Maybe if it were legal everywhere it wouldn't be such a draw to that particular group, or maybe like casinos, it's going to attract crime and problems any where it's grown.

I know of at least one person who moved to Ca. just to get the card... no medical reason just so they could do it "legally" and get "the good stuff". I've seen pictures its all about the high for them. I mean if you out partying 7 nights a week, not working but going clubing, posting these wild pictures from other places, I'm pretty sure you dont need this "card"... Sorry Ca.. they are your problem now. I'm pretty sure you all are feeding them with food stamps and paying them to live there since they have no job no savings no family support.. and yes I KNOW this for a fact..

I tried those thc tablets-marinol-and had a bad reaction. I got super anxious & started blabbing my deepest secrets uncontrollably.

if it wasn't legal I wouldn't use

are there abusers? sure
do some people abuse pain meds? yea

doesn't mean those with a legitimate need should suffer
