Medical Insurance

Well yes-no travel insurance will cover anything pre-existing with you or that of another in your family that would necessitate cancellation or interruption of plans. That is why it is wise to purchase it as soon as the trip is booked rather than just before leaving. Anything can happen in that time span that might make it an uninsurable condition.

Most travel insurances will cover pre-existing conditions if the condition is STABLE And no changes to medications have been made within 90 days of travel. .... check it out :)

I would highly recommend RBC Travel Insurance.

Myself and my son were sick in Disney 2 years ago with the flu and they even sent a pediatrician to our room in Disney!

The bill for us was over $6000.00 after all was said and done and RBC paid everything.

This service to us was priceless and I would highly recommend them.

Yes, that is true. I have seen them make it difficult tho! Face it--Insurance companies didn't get as rich as they are by being overly easy to get along with!

Key point is "check it out". I have family members with stable conditions and no changes to medication. They have been refused medical insurance due to pre-existing conditions.

My husband is a Federal Government employee. Apparently our medical insurance will cover us, but we can't find the cards that you need with your plan and entitlement on it....

Generally speaking the Federal Government coverage is better than what you can purchase separately. I was going to say more, but it was said for me:

We went again in May and this time I used my employers plan (Federal Government who use Sunlife) which covered myself and my family. Fortunatlely this time we didn't need it. If you are travelling, best place to start is to check your employers plans to see if it does cover you and your family. In the case of Federal Government employees, go to the Sunlife website, logon and the info is all there including a card you can print out incase you need to contact Sunlife in the event you end up in the hospital. Your HR dept will also have the info on medical insurance.

If you just got vmail at Sunlife then get your DH to call his HR dept. They should be able to give him everything he needs.
