May I ask.... which restaurant was bad in Rome? I'd like to know the name so we can avoid it in the future if any tour companies suggest it. Thanks!

I'd like to know too. We're using RIL for Rome. Well, all 3 Italian ports.

Sorry, I can't remember. It was across from the Vatican City walls (even though we did nothing near the Vatican). We sat in a room where other DCL guests taking private tours were sitting. Obviously organized. We otherwise enjoyed RIL and used them in the Amalfi Coast as well with great results - we requested a specific restaurant there. I'm using RIL this month in Rome again, but will request some place specific.

I don't know what your plans are for lunch for your Naples day, but if you're heading out to Positano there are TONS of cafes and restaurants in Positano. Literally, every other storefront in Positano was either a cafe, sandwich shop, gelateria, cafe or bar. So if RIL suggests a restaurant that is just outside of town, you're probably better off just getting dropped off in the town and finding lunch on your own.

We had a quick snack at "Paradise Lounge" Cafe in Positano. It has ocean views from their balcony, sandwiches, espresso, gelato and dessert. It's self serve so no tip or cover charge. Prices were very reasonable for the prime location. The only thing "wrong" with this place is that they play Top 40 American music. It's kinda weird to listen to Ne-Yo while you're on the Amalfi Coast in Italy

Thanks. We didn't make any definite lunch plans in any port except Villefranche because lunch in Eze is included. I guess I should start looking at places so we don't get stuck with their "recommended" restaurants.

Oh Darn. I just remembered Positano is our last stop. We have Pompeii in the morning, then Sorrento, then Positano.

We should have totally done this. Actually, we did (for Sorrento), but we never made it Ok it's funny now but it wasn't so funny at the time we missed Sorrento.

For anyone who might be looking for lunch in Rome near the Spanish Steps, a few years ago I stayed very close to the Spanish Steps for a 3 day trip and we ate at this cute little restaurant with delicious Buffalo Mozzarella, Antipasti and Pizza Margherita. They also had stewed meats (like lamb shank, etc), but we didn't order that type of stuff. The wine here was excellent. I went back and looked for the name.

Based on our pictures, my husband told me it's called "Enoteca Bar." I'm like, honey, that means wine shop.

It's actually called L'Enoteca Antica di Via Della Croce, and it's about a 3-minute walk from the Spanish Steps. It's pretty delicious.

I know we need covered knees and shoulders to visit churches. Do we need shoes/sandals that cover our toes?

As far as I noticed, there were no restrictions on footware in churches. The only requirements I noticed were shoulders and knees covered, and baseball caps off. ( hears several people by the Sistine Chapel being told to remove caps -- I don't know if other places have the same rule.)

I wore flip flops and they were fine with that ... we all wore tshirts to cover our shoulders and 3/4 lengths to cover our legs.

If I were you, I would note my calendar for 3 mos from now just to say my piece & clear my name. I can hold a grudge forever.

I would suggest the reviewer go to the Amalfi Coast board on Trip Advisor and post what happened there along with the response info.

Sorry to jump in...Just checking to see if anyone here has used Can't be Missef tours in Rome and Naples? They serm to hsve a good rating on trip advisor.

. . . I ended up posting a Trip Advisor review on the same subject. I just checked it and See Amalfi Coast's "response" accuses me of posting a false review since I'm allegedly a secret competitor.

To the cruisers in July and August---

Would someone be so kind as to take a picture of the luggage storage counter that is newly available in port after disembarkation and post it in one of the threads (or TR)? There is now a counter right next to where the suitcases are lined up after you get off the Magic.

We are planning on doing the WBTA or EBTA next year (haven't decided) and would great appreciate this information. I had my camera put away when I saw it and I wished I'd snapped a picture to get the info, company name, prices, etc.

On the Greek OPAparty day and also on the Bella Italia party day, they have a decorated door contest as part of the party. The take photos of a few of the doors on the ship and then you cheer for the one you ,Ike the most. If you have personal info that might identify you, they skip you, so if you want a chance for your door to be featured, fill it with fun magnets but leave off anything too personal. They go around one night before and look for the doors to feature. There was one DIS door in both the Greek and the Italy ones, so DISers, continue to represent!

We got to be one of the chosen doors on the Greek cruise. They sent a lovely gift bag to our room the next day!
