Med airfare advice

I just got a Cat 12 gty on the 5/26 sailing of the Magic for the Med trip. How have you guys been reasearching your airfare? The sailing is insanely cheap but the air may force me to cancel. Any advice would be welcome. This is such an amazing trip but darn the air is nuts!!

What do you consider nuts? For decent flights and times, we normally pay about $1,000-1,300 for roundtrip to Europe. Delta has direct flights from Atlanta to Barcelona for about $1,200 during the dates you would be traveling.

Shannon!! You're in luck!! You live in ATLANTA!! YAHOO!! Direct flight from ATL to Barcelona...I am the ultimate bargain hunter, somehow unbelievable airfares just find their way to me ($38 RT from B'ham to Orlando, $198 from ATL to London) you name it, I've found it! That being said, times are tough and airlines are cutting routes and raising prices...I have seen airfares from ATL to BCN just last week for less than $450...I doubt you'll see anything less than $300...but those grab 'em deals will come and the problem is you have to be QUICK!! I vowed to come to these boards the minute they shoot out..maybe I should start a thread and then have people sub to it so they'll get a notice there was a reply??

Go to Delta's weekly sale fares, right now they are focusing on South America and must buy by Dec 7, keep checking late Sunday night (seem to come out on Mondays) for changes to the listings!

Oh! And I check daily b/c that's how dedicated I am..and right now $858-$900 is the lowest out of ATL...direct...now sometimes you can find fares around $600 if you're willing to fly to 4 stops, me, no..I'll just wait it out and jump when they hit!

Tara I am pretty sure you and I were cut from the same cloth! That is what I am looking for as far as rates go. I have until 1/26 to cancel and I think I will just make it my new job to check. This is the trip of a lifetime and I hate to miss it as I know I will never be able to do that many European cities as once for this price. Now to convince my mother..... whole other story! this may end up being just a mommy and me trip for my daughter and I. Heck since I am already paying for it we may have to invite a buddy if my mom won't go! If you start a thread PLEASE let me know!

Eva that is what I am trying to avoid! I am just such a bargain shopper! I cannot do it unless I know it is a good deal! I have cheap shopper disease!

I am the queen of cheap, but I also felt the need to lock in rates before my final payment date. I got a round trip from my home airport to BCN for $974. To me, that's good. I live near a B airport, so we never get the great deals; if I had to book separately from home to Atl and Atl to BCN, that eats the savings. My costs are just a smidge over 1/2 of what DCL was charging me for air.
