Measurements of roll in shower?

We are building a new home and want it to be accessible. Neither of us is in a wheelchair at this time, but DH has had 2 separate hip and knee surgeries which made us realize how "non accessible" our current home is.

We have stayed in rooms at both BWV and Hilton Head with roll in showers and thought they were great. Does anyone know the measurements of those showers? We have the standard measurements of what is "supposed" to be an accessible roll in shower, but we felt that the ones at WDW were so much roomier. Thanks in advance for any info.

A true good rollin should be 5 feet by 5 feet. You can get by with a 3ft by 5 ft but the bigger one will make you much more happy.
Also make sure that you put the controler out by the edge of the shower so you can turn it on and off outside the shower. A scald controller is also nice so you will not get burned in the shower.
And number one is make sure your tile person has done roll ins before. Ours did not and it started leaking within 2 weeks after we moved in. Since the shower subfloor has to be about 6 inches ,so the finished floor is level, they need to use extra materials to prevent leaks. Make sure they put a membrain through out the whole bathroom.
