Mears taxi vs rental car

Has anybody here used mears? If so how reliable are they with being on time?

I'm debating between using them or just getting a rental car.

The mears or rental car would be used to get me from ASMo to universal and from universal to chef mickeys / hoop dee doo.

Hi, We use them all the time when we are in WDW. We do not travel to Universal, but for the parks that require a bus ride - we take a Mears taxi instead. So much more convenient. They are pretty much always available at the resorts. I think once or twice we may have called for one from Animal Kingdom and it was very fast.

I would rent a car. We always do, for every trip listed below except 1. It's far more convenient and you are not at the mercy of anyone else.

I would use Uber instead of Mears. It will be much cheaper and more efficient.

I find Mears Orlando area taxi monopoly to be rather expensive. Check out Uber for cheaper rides. A 1-2 day car rental will be the same price as round trip taxi, maybe even cheaper! But do pay attention to the hours of operation of the various rental agencies, if you can't get the car until 9 or have to return it by 5 it can add a day's cost.
