Does anyone know what the current rates are for a taxi ride from the airport to a resort (WL)?

Mears (roundtrip) costs $28/adult and $20/child. When we get there, we're meeting up with DH, who is going to be at a conference. Mears for him will be $16 one-way. So, $64 for Mears... oh, do you tip the shuttle driver? And if so, as much as a taxi driver?

Thanks!!!!!!

I paid $80.00 RT with Tiffany Car, plus 20% tip.

Great service, and very convenient. I booked them for my next trip. There is a coupon on their website.

They also give you a 30 minute grocery stop.

The other good thing is that their price is fixed. They go right to your hotel, and back. No dropping others off first like with Mears, and no Cab driver taking advantage of the out of towners, by taking the long, expensive route.

esrade,
Just for your information, Mears has all types of transportation services which include Shuttle, metered taxi and town cars. The taxi rate would run you approximately $55.00 to the WL with plus or minus of $5.00. You can compare that to the shuttle rate you already know. By contrast, the town car rate is more reasonable and most of all it is a more personalized service where you get the most service for your money. If considering a town car, please look into our web site: www.fltours.com we’re this site sponsor. We’ll take a good care of you.

Just to make it more confusing....another option would be to rent a car for the day. Pick it up at the airport and drop it off at DW. Every major car company has at least one desk in DW....pick the one closest to you. Email or just post and I'll look it up. Renting an economy car should be less than $40 and then you can stop at the grocery store and anywhere else you wanted. We usually do this from the airport and keep it for a few days to go shopping, resort hopping and then take the town car or mears back. Florida is one of the states where you can pick up at a different place than you drop off with no extra charge.

Mears used to be the easiest thing (and cheapest) around but since 911 they sure turned out to be a pain....we went to 4 resorts on a huge bus before we got to the swan.

Rent a car or take a town car....Mears is a pain and taxi's are expensive and iffy!

taking the shuttle is the cheapest way for an one adult to get to WDW but it seems to make sense for you and the kiddies to reserve a rental car or a towncar. Hubby can ride back to the airport the same way you do if you are all on the same flight.

Although I personally don't think it's worth it, the cheapest way is the lynx bus ($1.25). You can get it as far as TTC and then get Disney transportation.

Tiffany all the way! I did Mears in 2000 and 2001 and tried Tiffany last year with my wife and it was great! You get to your hotel super fast! It's cool having a private driver to whisk you away to Disney and pick you up to bring you back to the airport without having to wait for a shuttle and hope there is room for you.

Mears is ok, but if you get stuck on a van with a lot of other guests... you'll be stuck in the van for a few hours if you are the last stop. We had that happen when we stayed at the WL in 2001 -- we ended up stopping at the BC, YC, POL and FW before we hit the final stop at WL. However, for our 2000 trip, we were the first stop.
