Mears Connect Now Taking Reservations

And since it often is just me, sometime another person, it will be far cheaper to use the buses than a limo or car rental.

Round Trips

Mears:
$32/person (intro rate)
(Uber to Publix $20-$25)

Towncar:
$150

You are quickly getting to a small difference between having a service be right there for you to jump in, go to the grocery store, and then directly to your resort. Flip side with Mears there will be lines at times, delays at times, and other aspects. I am not saying it will be bad its just even good service from Mears will not compare to a quality Towncar service picking you up.

Yup, sounds just like the old days prior to ME when we used to say private transport was the better option in most cases.

It is to be expected some form of dynamic pricing like airlines. Book early and pay $32, then price increases nearer the date.

One thing to remember as far as pricing goes, Mears will always have to operate at or under what an Uber/Lyft would cost. If they started offering the same baggage from home to resort service that DME offered, then the additional cost is justified. From a logistics standpoint, Mears would have to rely on Disney resort staff to handle the luggage in some way, and I don't see that happening.

If you are quoting Tiffany, which states $150 on their website, they told me that they expect a 20% tip so $180 more likely which lines up with the Mears limo cost. But if Mears starts raising the rates dramatically, I will go with a limo also.

Ok, their site is very buggy right now. I finally got the correct flight information put in and it came back with the $32 round trip and I booked it. You will probably have to try several times to get your airline to populate correctly, but once it does and you input the date and flight, it will pull in the real flight information.

As a comparison, I put in a Mears Connect Limo rather than the shuttle. For the two of us the "Introductory" RT prices to Boardwalk are:
Shuttle - $64
Mears Limo $255 - ($200 +$55 per additional guest - I guess the weight of the extra guest really messes up the gas mileage)
Tiffany Limo $180 ($150 + 20% recommended tip)

Since we spend the day waiting for rides at the parks, I guess I can spend 30-40 minutes waiting for the shuttle.

Do you pay up front when you book? If so, do you get your money back if you need to cancel?

  • "Entertainment for you and your party while you ride."
Wonder what they mean by that? Hope it's not jokes from the driver. And they do include luggage.
Similar video that DME had. MEARS probability made the original one show on buses.

We will be schlepping luggage from baggage claim to the Mears Shuttle ?

Mears was never the company that provided the service for luggage directly to the resort. It was Bags, Inc. I learned that just last year after the pandemic started. So, we will need to be responsible for our own luggage.

When I go on a trip with just me, I will use the shuttle. If it is more than that, we will most likely hire car round trip so we don't need to do the 3 hours before on the way home.

Does anyone know if Mears will allow you to leave earlier for the airport? I prefer to get there early so I can eat before my flight.

Just ran a couple of things using today as the price to compare to Mears for anyone who's interested - standard pricing/no coupons were used.
These are round trip prices from MCO to BLT

$72.00 - Lyft/Uber / Fits up to 4
$94.00 - Hertz One Way Medium Sedan / Fits up to 5
$100.00 - Uber XL / Fits up to 6
$118.00 - Mears Standard / 2 Adults & 2 Kids
$144.00 - Taxi Service / Fits up to 4
$180.00 - Lyft/Uber Black / Fits up to 4
$196.00 - Hertz One Way Medium SUV / Fits up to 7
$200.00 - Mears Connect Premium / Fits up to 4
$280.00 - Uber Black XL / Fits up to 6
$310.00 - Minnie Van Airport Service / Fits up to 6 (Not currently running)

The rentals have extra complexity and may only work for specific scenarios. I would not want to transfer everything at the WDW Car Care center and take a Disney bus back to the hotel, especially if a Lyft/Uber is cheaper.

If I had to do it I would stop for groceries, then drop the family off to check in, get settled and do pool time. I'd have no issues going by myself to return the car and taking the shuttle back while they relaxed. Realistically unless we also planned on going to Universal, Sea World, visiting family or working the day for multiple family pickups, this probably isn't a cost saving option.

The only issue I ran into with Lyft/Uber in March was that they aren’t always able to get there fast if it is a prime time. It was week before Easter and the pricing and times were definitely inflated.

We were in line for DME and figured we’d check. It made no sense when they said how long It would take and price it would be.

But, for a family, there may be other options that will work out better and faster than Mears will. It will be interesting to see how the waits are once it officially starts.
