• My dishwasher

 • My HVAC (heating/cooling)

 • My TV

 • My Stereo

 • My Computer

 • My VCR/DVD player

Good morning friends!

I have one word to say about the past 5 days...

OUCH!

We have been doing SO much work redesigning out living room and hallway the past few days. It was something I wanted to do gradually so I wouldn't kill myself but then my brother from PA decided to come down to see us and visit mom on Friday and we were smack dab in the middle of remodeling! :earseek: Ack!

So we are kicking it into high gear to try to finish and it doesn't look like I will get everything I want done. We will have to forgo the pediment I was going to build for the dining room entry and just frame it with fluted casing for now and the hallway won't get the picture frame moulding before they get here *sigh*.

If you guys want to see pictures of my TS inspired work when I'm done I'll post them :)

On to today's question... I asked what small appliance you couldn't live without - how about

"What big appliance/electronics could you not live without?"

This might sound weird, but I could probably live without my stereo. As much as I love my CD's and music, I rarely play them in the house. The TV is usually on, or I'm craving some serious silence.;)

I'm the last option. I'm totally lost without my washer, my dryer and my computer. The other's I think I could live without.

As soon as I saw the first option, I knew I'd pick the microwave because that's the only way I know how to make food.:teeth: But there's so many other things that I couldn't do without. I think I would have to go with the computer though. I NEED my computer to talk to people, go online, and do any kind of schoolwork. I could also listen to music on the computer if I wanted to, and could always go online and get a recap of Passions or something.

I'm going into panic attacks just thinking of trying to live without everything listed here!

I spent a year " roughing it". Well, roughing it for a 50 yr old. At 20 roughing it is considerably different., and probably has to include lack of potty facilities.

We had no dishwasher.

No washer/dryer ( I dragged my butt two towns over to a public laundry )

No stove, or oven. Just a microwave, toaster oven, and electric frying pan, and coffee maker. Now that does not seem so bad, until you realize there was ONE, yes, one electric outlet in the kitchen, and the fridge was plugged into one socket.

Picture making breakfast...make coffee....unplug pot. fry eggs, when they are almost done, unplug pan, plug in toaster. You get the picture.

Oh, and there was not a single inch of counter space in the kitchen. Literally none at all. Just a wall of floor to ceining cupboards. This house had to have been built by someone who ate out all the time.

And know what? it was one of the most fun 9 months of my life. I laughed a lot...had to. And now that our home is ready and we are back living the way civilized people do, I never ever take my "luxuries" for granted.

I love living where it's warm most of the year, but I don't know how anyone lived in TX before the AC was invented. And I hate being cold when it does get cold here so I have to have a heater. So my answer is definitely my HVAC system. It seems like a necessity - the others are luxuries.

Krista :)

Put me in the panic attack category. LOL! I need everything except the stove and a TV. But I need my stereo! I have to have music on ALL the time. I even sleep with it on. :teeth: Can't stand silence!

A washer and dryer I don't ever want to live without again!
If I have clean clothes, sheets and towels, I can do anything! and I refuse to go to the laundrymat.

I don't think I could do without any of those anymore.

After my last apartment, I swore I'd never be without a dishwasher again.

And I certainly don't miss saving every quarter I can get my hands on for laundry.

The microwave and the oven/stove are both vital for me too.

In MN, heating, AC and ventilation are pretty darn important.

And well, I'm on my computer right now. :)

All I can say is I'm glad I live in this era!!! Technology is a beautiful thing!

i'm in a panic just thinking about the possibility of losing an appliance, lol! the dishwasher is an absolute must, see my tag for details!

i "kind of, sort of" really need the tv, computer, washer and dryer. stereo is optional, blow dryer has been lost for years, and when i moved in with dh, we had no stove-his ex had stolen everything from the house and he just never replaced the stove! given the choice between a stove and an ac on the day i moved in, i chose the ac! i do like my microwave, but could do without it i guess.

but please, don't ever take my dishwasher, i think i would have to throw in the towel, lol!

When I was a young girl, I had to wash my clothes in the bathtub. As much as I would miss my computer, I truly couldn't live without my washer.
