I decided today to run the Wine & Dine Half! :cool1:

For those of you who have done the night half-marathons before, what have you done about lunch and dinner?

I admit, it's going to be tough not to overeat, especially at the beginning of Food & Wine... at the moment, I have ADRs Friday night and Sunday morning, but nothing on Saturday yet!

Well, I haven't run a night half yet but my plan for now is Boma Friday night and a very early lunch or late breakfast on race day to allow everything to digest. Since I'll be with other people I'll have to see what they think of course.

I haven't totally figured out what/how I'm going to eat that day. Like Frank said, probably just a late breakfast/early lunch and then just drink water and Clif Quench (my favorite sports drink :) ) the rest of the day. I've been doing a lot of my training runs lately about 10 p.m. (where does the day go? :confused3) but if I run within 2 hours of eating I get stomach cramps. I have a pretty strong stomach so I'm not too worried about what I eat, just don't want it to get too close (plus I know my stomach's going to be full of nerves so I don't want to add a full stomach on top of that). I do think the "taste" and "sip" at the end will be a waste for me as after my longest runs it's all I can do to force myself to eat something or drink more than water, even after a couple of hours.

**Oh, and congratulations on deciding to go!! :goodvibes

Thanks, guys. I ended up making a 5:30p reservation for Narcoossee's, just because I'm worried about not having any ADR in case they announce Free Dining soon. If I decide not to keep it, I'll cancel later.

I did some of my long training runs for Princess at night...and I felt best when I hadn't eaten anything within a couple of hours.

For Wine/Dine - I'll probably have a late lunch, around 2pm - then eat very light the rest of the day - for me probably a protein shake around 6 or 7. Makes for a happier stomach in my case

I'm a walker, not a runner, but I do most of my training at night. I eat a small meal, usually a bowl of cereal 45-60 minutes before I go out. Then I take my Clif bloks with me.

Good advice about maybe eating something lighter before and give yourself time to digest. Not sure where I'll be eating or what it will be for that time. Make sure you drink enough water the days preceeding and the day.

Yea, I would eat a reasonable breakfast, and an early lunch. Dinner I'd keep kind of small (similar to what you would eat for before a normal half marathon in the am). I would try to avoid high protein foods or anything that is really greasy.
