Meal vouchers?

What are meal vouchers (for $11.99) at AK other parks? I read this in someone's post...how it saved them about $3/pp. Is this only for someone on dining plan...or something else? And if so, where are they good for and where can you get them? So many questions...but every buck that I can save on food, is great!

"Meal Plus" Program

The Animal Kingdom "Meal Plus" Program allows you to purchase a special voucher at any Animal Kingdom counter service restaurant (Restaurantosaurus, Flame Tree Barbecue, Pizzafari, or Tusker House) that entitles you to the following:

counter service meal with small drink (non-alcoholic) - but many readers report receiving a large drink
coupon for ice cream, popcorn OR a piece of fresh fruit

coupon for a bottle of water or soda

The cost is $11.99 for adults and $5.99 for kids, which is quite a good deal considering that the higher-priced counter service meals alone can set you back that much, once you add the drink.

The "Meal Plus" vouchers are only good the day you purchase them, but as MouseSavers.com reader Kim A reports, "I recommend buying the meal deal early (before the lunch crowd) so you have the coupons the whole day. You don't have to get your meal at that time. That way, if you eat a late lunch like we did, you can use the coupons for a snack and drink during the busy lunch time to hold you over for your later lunch. Especially with the hot weather coming, it was nice to be able to get an ice cream at noon."

A friend is giving us Meal Vouchers that were not used on their trip. They have an August expiration date. How do these work? I understand that they are approximately 11.00 each and cover entree, beverage and dessert. Do they accept them at all the parks, resorts, etc?

Meal vouchers are accepted at AK only...they are a great deal!

What kind of meal vouchers is she giving you? The AK vouchers are only good at AK, but are only good the day you buy them, so they wouldn't be good until August, so I'm guessing your friend is giving you the other meal vouchers (though I've never heard of them expiring in August) maybe she got them as part of a group trip? Anyway, they are good at several counter service restaurants. There is a list on the back of where they are good at. do a search on meal vouchers and there is a thread about them, where you can use them, what you can get, etc. These vouchers are good for an entree, side, drink and dessert.
