I have a question about meal vouchers. I have read a fair bit about them and I'm wondering if they are available to Canadians. We have a family of six going in October, and aren't sure if they would benefit us much. Are there any Canadians out there who have used the vouchers? Appreciate all the help I can get! Thanks!

I have used them many times, but they are not available for us to purchase- only on e-bay. I have bought mine through these boards, and e-bay. If quick and casuals are used at places like Pepper market food court at Coronado Springs resort, and Beaches and Cream and the Beach club resort they are an excellent deal. When used in the parks they will save anywhere from .50 to $2. The thing I like is this includes a dessert which my kids love and I normally wouldn't splurge for and the idea of having meals pre paid before I get there. The more expensive vouchers- VKL- are a great deal at Rainforest cafe.

Thanks for the info. Looks like you go to Disney World a lot!. I noticed you have been to MNSSHP. Can you tell me about it? I have only heard that those are days to avoid MK. We are going Oct 17-31/04 (I can't figure out the trip counter). Also, would you recommend the 5 or 7 day parkhopper? We would also like to visit SeaWorld, and haven't decided about Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure. I can use all the help I can get. Thanks!

MNSSHP was a really nice night. My kids are 10, 14, and 15, and they all enjoyed it. Festive atmosphere, candy stations, great parade, rides with no lines, fortune tellers, and alot of people including characters in costume. We are going back again this year. You might have heard to avoid those days because the parks closes early for the party.

For the length of time you are going I would suggest a 7 day hopper. That way you have it if you want it but if you don't use it all the days never expire. We also love Universal so we do 2 days there also. The one place we have yet to go is Seaworld. Just can't seem to fit it in. The disney water parks are well worth a day at each also and are included in your hopper ticket.

For your trip counter go to the technical board and there are instructions.

Where do you plan on staying?

Any more questions ask away:Pinkbounc :bounce:

hi hockey mom! Our counters are pretty close! when are you planning MNNSHP? I just ordered ours for the 8th. Its our first time and can't wait.

Hi Liseas- We are going on the 12th. Last year we went on the 8th, but this year we are heading to Universal first for their party. Where are you staying?

hockey mom:
We're staying off site at CSME. Our trip was booked before I "found' the Dis. and knew nothing about "codes", etc. I'll know better next year! How did you like the party last year? Did you wear a costume? We still haven't decided on our costumes yet. It will be so different DS wearing a costume without wearing his Columbia parka over it!

We loved the party. I loved the whole atmosphere. My DH and I did not dress up and all 3 kids were pirates. This year DS already has his spiderman costume and the girls can't decide. If you like Halloween you will really enjoy this party. Have fun:Pinkbounc :jester: :bounce:

Hi Hockey Mom!

Sorry to take so long to respond...summer vacation got in the way. We are staying at the Marriott Grande Vista. We have saved two of our timeshare weeks for this holiday, and can't wait. Have you heard anything (good or bad) about this resort?

Our children are 13, 11, 8, and 4 (turning 5 in WDW). I noticed that the height restrictions for most of the Islands of Adventure rides cut our 4 yr old out of the picture, so maybe just Universal Studios or Seaworld would be a better bet?

I was thinking that we were going to WDW at an ideal time of year, since I could avoid the "Halloween costume hustle", but MNSSHP sounds kind of fun. Do most kids wear costumes, and how pricey is it? Do you have to purchase tickets in advance?

Also, wierd question, since I hate spiders, how bad are the bugs down there in October?

I tried to set up my countdown, but it isn't working still. I wish there was someone I could call who could walk me through the process. Our time is coming so quickly, and it would be fun to have the countdown to check!

Thanks again for all your help!

Hi Lana- I have heard excellent reviews of the marriot grande vista. I also am a bug hater and have never had any problems in Ocotber. As for costumes at MNSSHP I would say it's split 50/50. With regards to Universal your 4 yr old would have to sit out some of the coasters but there is still quite a bit to do. Suess landing is very cool and the play area in Universal, Curious George, is also alot of fun. Have a great time:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Thanks hockey mom,

By the way, what is the napkin dance at Chef Mickey's, and is Chef Mickey's a good place to eat?

The napkin dance is held every 30- 45mins. All the characters and servers stop what they are doing and grab a napkin, all patrons are encouraged to stand on their seats and start twirling their napkin above their heads while a really cute Mickey party song is played. The food here gets mixed reviews but we have always enjoyed it. It is one of the louder character meals because of the napkin dance but that's what makes it our favorite.
