im from Australia & am just so excited about our very 1st trip to Disneyland & the US,im just not looking forward to the 14hr flight with a 6 & 3 yr old...

anyways, can anyone giv me a rough estimate on meal prices in the park?

I hope its true what they say about DL being the "Happiest Place on Earth".

thanks, jen :banana::yay:

Hi Aussiejen,

We were at Disneyland in October last year and I can verify that it most definately is the happiest place on earth :rotfl::rotfl:

The meal prices really do vary depending on where you go but one thing is for sure if you are used to Aussie dining out prices you will be pleasantly surprised. Kids meals at most basic places are only a few dollars and entrees (which is what they call main meals) are a lot less expensive than you will be used to. On the other had the food won't be as good as it is here.... but that's another story :dance3::dance3:

Have fun, and don't forget to drop in on the Aussie section of the boards :thumbsup2

Definitely check out the above mentioned thread on allearsnet.com.

Also, many of the meals at DLR can be shared. We frequently split our meals.

For example at the Plaza Inn in DLR their fried chicken meal is a half chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a biscuit. Totally sharable. Personally I now get double order of mashed potatoes as the green beans are just not good. :confused3 The chicken is delicious!

ADDED-Picture of Chicken-as you can see totally shareable. (get double the potatoes and skip the green beans.

I can't tell you how much food I see going to waste after a family has finished eating. For some reason people don't think about sharing a meal while at Disney. Besides, if you leave enough room after you eat then you can get a Mickey Bar or dole whip or pretzel or......

Have a great trip!

Went to DLR last night and my DM and I shared this from Ralph Brennan's Jazz Express in DTD.

Popcorn Shrimp Platter - Fried Gulf shrimp with choice of jalapeno-bacon potato salad, Southern coleslaw, or Cajun fries. $7.99. Also got a small loaf of bread with butter for $1.99. You can get potato salad or coleslaw instead of fires. We didn't want it too spicy so we got plain fries. The shrimp was really good.:goodvibes

My DD got the kid's (Gator Meal) Corn Dog Nuggets. The other choice is popcorn chicken. Both come with regular fries (they got rid of the horrible smily face fries they used to sell).

Between the 3 of us we didn't come close to finishing all the fries. So if you like something a little spicy, you could get the southern slaw or jalapeno/bacon potato salad instead.

Here's the kid's corn dog nuggets. I think I count 8 corn dog nuggets.Comes with a soda too. $4.49

So for all 3 of us to eat, dinner it was $12.50 plus tax (total about $13.50) ;)My DM & I didn't get a beverage, we already had our own. Jazz Express has a serve your self soda area so you can refill your drinks before you leave (assuming you buy a beverage)

There seems to be so many good places to eat and so little times and stomach:scared1:. I just wrote don the places I just wanted to try a bite wow! It could almost count as our meals for our trip!. The skwers from Bengal Barbecue, the coen on the cob from stage door cafe and the Pizza form Pizza Oom Mow Mow yikes:scared1: just keep teeling my self moderation!!.

Carnation Cafe was a great place to eat! I know thats not what the OP asked but I thought I would throw that in there, and so was Cafe Orleans, both were fantastic! I could go on and on but wont, lol

This is so true that it will ruin you for every other place, ever again! LOL! Seriously!

Agreed, if you plan on doing anything else (universal studios, legoland) do it BEFORE you go to DL and see the difference, if you do it after DL then it wrecks the whole day for you because your expectations will be high after Disneyland!
