Looking to book Davy Crocketts for Dec, and pondering if we should get meal plans, and if so full or half board. I know breakfast is no longer inlcuded. We will have the car and could take meals to cook back in the cabin, have never done meal plans there before and I know food can be expensive. Is it worth it and which one would you go for?
Should say it is me, hubby, 5 yr old and 2 yr old.
Thanks

I haven't done the meal plan, but just a few thoughts...

You have to take the meal plan for the whole time you are there, which in a sense reduces your flexibility. With the dark evenings, would you prefer quiet evenings at the cabin? The two wee ones, you may find that flexibility helps

Also, while there is a supposed "discount" factored in to the vouchers, the way the pound is going against the Euro, meals are not as expensive as they once seemed.

If you feel that you need to budget in advance, and are fairly sure that you would all eat every meal you buy for, go for it. Otherwise, take a more flexible approach, and pay as you go. Prices are here http://www.dlrpmagic.com/planning/dining/restaurant-menus/.

I wouldn't bother, the meal plans aren't the savings they once were.

As Ruth said you'll have to take whatever meal plan you choose for your length of stay so if you're considering cooking back at your cabin some of the nights I think you're far better to pay out of pocket.

The buffets are good value (for DLP) and your 2 old will eat free at them.

As the others have suggested, I wouldn't bother.

Davy Crocketts is a great choice though. It's currently our favourite DLP restaurant :thumbsup2

Better off getting shares and using the discount! It's 15% on table service and buffet or 10% in Earl of Sandwich. We found Plaza Gardens buffet good value and lots of choice.

We've stayed twice at DCR and cooked for ourselves both times, but this year we've decided on Full board so we didn't have to budget for food or worry about cooking after a long day at Disney.

Cooking for ourselves was easier as we have a fussy child, but the smoke alarm is right above the hob and the OH always set it off haha

Thanks for the replies. Think we may just take our food with us. It is nice getting back to the cabin on a night and having dinner. Have had the buffet before at DC and was quite impressed so may go there one night. Thanks again.
