Hi everyone, I am a newbie to Universal and am pretty convinced I will be getting the quick service dining plan for our trip December 25-29 (4 adults). Yes I know its probably a crazy time to go, We will be staying at RP so EP is included and hopefully will help. Is there a link you can route me to to get all the info I need on how to use this. I would also love info on the dining app and the workings of that. It seems that there are no mobile order windows like Disney or am I incorrect? TIA!! I am pretty familiar when it comes to Disney, but my family has decided to try Universal this time and we are so excited!!!!

Are you sure about the dining plan? I wouldn’t do it. You don’t want to feel tied into getting your money's worth on a really crowded day. You might want the ability to snack or to go back to your hotel for a meal. It’s not a really big money saver. Mostly just a convenience thing. Best thing to do is wait to buy it- you can buy it on the spot, day of. Admittedly I’m not positive how that works with mobile ordering (because the cashier usually prompts the plan purchase at checkout). At any rate, I’d hold off and make it a game day decision.

Express Passes? There’s a separate line. Just head there whenever you want to ride. Nothing to plan or schedule. Do start paying attention to how they are using virtually queues. I’d start reading trip reports here, especially as the holidays get closer.

The dining plan is NOT like the WDW dining plan. You can get it whenever you want right at the register. Also not everyone in the party has to get it. There's absolutely NO reason to pre-buy it. Its $26/adult so there's not a ton of places that it makes any sense at all to get it. That includes 1 meal with drink and 2 snacks. Your best snacks are in the HP areas, namely butterbeers are a great use, they're $8/each but you can only drink so many of those. Pretty much if the entree you are ordering is over $16 then you will probably at least break even. I also want to caution you that UOs QS are a far cry from WDWs QS. Now UOs TS restaurants are very good from what we've experienced ( Mythos, cowfish, toothsome, anitjos, and the kitchen). We loved all of these and have many more on our to do list!

Yeah its a borderline value. Of course you dont have to use it all on the same day - so you could get butter beers on different days or an ice cream at the HP ice cream place.
I usually buy one or two for a multiday trip - especially if there is a deal - but I am very picky where and when I use it.
Personally it tends to be too much work to just break even.

NOTE: Although you can use it over multiple days - that could change at any time - it does state it has to be used in one day - its just not enforced in any way that I have ever seen
