We are planning a trip to Disney at New Years for a few days before we head out on a Disney Cruise :cool1:
Trying to figure out our best options for meal plans while we are there.
We are planning to check into CBR the night of the 31st after visiting Legoland that day. We will hit up Magic Kingdom on January 1st returning to CBR that night and then head out on Jan. 2 for the Disney cruise.
Does anybody have any suggestions for the best way to go about food options while we are at the resort. Can we we buy 2 days of meal plans and use them on three separate days (i.e. dinner on 31st and then use the breakfast and lunch on the 2nd) or would it be best to try to just buy one day of meal plans and just make our own way on the night of the 31st and the day of the 2nd.
Thanks for any advice! :thumbsup2

The DDP is a package deal. You'll have to buy tickets as well as stay onsite in order to purchase it. It is tied to the number of nights you stay. In your case, if you buy the regular plan, you would have two TS credits, two QS credits, and two snacks per person in your room.

You can use those credits anyway you choose. They will all be available to you when you check in and will not expire until midnight of the 2nd.

You can now add the dining plan without tickets. Disney started this earlier this year for on-site guests.

Thanks for the advice.
I will post this over on the dining plans board. I missed that one to begin with when i was originally posting this.

I will never pay for a DP, free - "Yes please!"
You don't save any money, if you like the prepay option I'd suggest putting money on Disney gift cards *deals available* you could put what the plan would cost on a card, I guarantee you won't use it all on food.

We never buy the dining plan. We don't eat as much with the heat, and we save money by splitting 2 adult meals between our 4 kids.

I don't know that a dining plan, per se, will be of much value to you. I think in your shoes what I would do is first and foremost, right away go to the Disney site and see what is available to book on those dates. It is the busiest week of the year. Make your ADR's for dinner on the 31st and 1st.
Check out the menus here on the DIS and at allears.net and see what appeals to you. This will help you choose restaurants and calculate costs based on what you would likely order. Then I would purchase Disney gift cards to cover my OOP food costs. This is about the best of both worlds in your scenario.
You will have your hard to get ADR's and they will be Prepaid (gift Card) so there is no worrying about costs in the restaurants.
But you must make those ADR's ASAP
Good Luck

Repllied on the dining board but in essence it was that you are staying only 2 nights - New Years Eve and New Years Day. Would the dining plan be worth it to you if you were not able to book any restaurants inside MK? Because there are only 5 of them (6 at dinner) and on the busiest days of the year, they are possibly booked up already.
