Wanted to hear from people who have done the meal deal. Does it end up being a good bargain? Are the lines long in the restaurants that are included? How's the food? My concern is if the plan starts at 11am and the park that day closes at 5pm (going in dec), then there's really only time/appetite for one meal...not such a good deal.

I'd love to hear some feedback. THanks!!

Im used to the Dining Plan at Disney which i think is fantastic and offers great food!

The food was so-so, basic theme park food. We did not do it for the adults in our group - just the kids. It wouldn't have made sense to do it for the adults. We figured that a kids lunch costs at least $5 and same with dinner. So the $10 for the day for each child made sense. We did have to rush to get dinner with the 6 close time that we were there for, but we were there at 9. You can go through the line more than once, but our family would be the type to just do once for lunch and once for dinner, so we worked that into our numbers. I'm not sure if it's changed, but in Jan of 2010, the kids servings for the pizza was the exact same as the adults pizza. Technically, you're not supposed to share. But I did buy a big plate of fruit for my lunch and then ate some of the kids leftover pizza and shared the fruit. (Our kids were 3 and 6 and it was a large portion). I figured that as long as I was buying something for myself, then it wasn't a huge deal. (I'd never send my kid through the line twice to get something for me!)

We're going on a 9-6 day for our next trip, but only have one day in the parks. We want to eat at Three Broomsticks, which is not on the meal deal. So, we won't be doing it. Plus, with only one day in the park, our plan will be to eat dinner out of the park.

*I just checked the park calendar and it's 6, not 5, for Dec as the earliest.

if you have big eaters and like the basic theme park foods, i found it to be worth it if you are going to be at the parks all day. You get a meal and a desert each time. I know my daughter got 2 meals at one restaurant and just a desert at one as well. We only got the one park meal deal for IOA, it worked out well because one of the members of our party didnt like the first meal he picked so he was able to go get something else.

There are much better restaurants to try that are not on the meal deal. The MD is basic theme park food and most restaurants...with the exception of Louie's at the Studios...wouldn't get a recommendation from me or the other regulars. Portions at most restaurants are large enough to share if you're trying to save some money. I would recommend Thunder Falls Terrace in Jurassic Park for counter and Mythos in The Lost Continent for meals. At the Studios, I would go with either Louie's for counter service or Finnegan's for table service.

This a GREAT question. From my experience last August, the MEAL DEAL came in handy for the three teens I had, however we made it a point to be there from open to close(9PM). So, in your case, spending MEAL DEAL money for what could end up being just a single meal all day probably wouldnt be ideal. Here's an alternative we did - instead of the in-park MEAL plan, I took the kids to the 2nd floor food court located @ CityWalk for a much quieter, as less crowded, sitdown dinner that was very satisfying. When we were there, your choices included - BK, Panda, Moe's Southwest. Price per adult meal - 6-8 bucks.
