I really feel we saved some money using the meal deal. I got the 2 park pass for $26 but found I would have been fine getting the 1 park pass for $20. Now I did see people going back and forth for meals in a party of 2 or 4 and only having one person with a band. Is this done often? How do you feel about this?

I hope it isn't done often because it is STEALING! People who do this drive up the prices for everyone else.

It maybe easy to do, but it is just wrong. I coudn't do that because it is stealing and that would always be in mind.

Well that's what I was thinking its going to drive up the prices. Would have been nice to have a few more restaurant choices. Rotisserie chicken at International Foods was good and spaghetti and meatballs was good at Louie's Italian Restaurant

There is no sharing on the meal deal but as you saw people do it. When the parks are busy it's very hard for the cashiers to monitor or enforce the rules w/o causing a scene. I understand your frustration but unfortunately, there's not a lot that can be done.

There are three choices at the Studios and IOA so the choices are limited. It's always been that way and probably won't change. Sometimes it's best to eat wherever you want because there much better restaurants to try that are not on the meal deal. Thunder Falls Terrace at IOA leaps to mind. ;)

We don't do the meal plan because the choices are so limited. However, it is good for teens who aren't so fussy.

Just for interest sake what's the meal deal menu like?
This will give you an idea:

it is aggravating when peeps don't follow the rules on the meal deal.

that meal deal had been at $12.99 before.
you know what the price for them are now.

i can see the price increasing again if the rules are abused.

Prices will increase regardless. Abuse is one small factor, but so is the amount even one person eats. There is a high margin on the types of food included, and there is a number of meals that a person needs to eat before Universal loses money. I'm betting it's quite a bit. That's not saying its right, but the abuse is a small factor in pricing and any competent business person would factor in abuse and big eaters when figuring cost, price and acceptable margin. More likely driving price increases are increased food prices due to gas and other costs, inflation, a certain overall section profit margin, etc.

So do you also buy a new souvenir cup every day?

A new souvenir cup?? Why... I pay .89 cents for refills. No one ever said I needed a new one daily :-)

There are two types of souvenir cups. The one you pay for cheaper refills and the one with the meal deal where refills are free for the day of the meal deal.

The one with the cheaper refills is good for the life of the cup. The one with the meal deal must be repurchased each time.

though that is how everyone uses the famous Red cup, if you look at the rules of the cup at the park it is only good day of purchase. Just because nobody enforces the rule does not make as wrong as sharing meal deals

I went this weekend and my opinion is it's not whorth it. I don't know how a person can come back for second time because the lines on those restaurant were huge. It would take a lot of your time just to get the lunch of only one person the the hassle of finding seats. I only choose to have lunch at the park on restaurants that not offered the meal deal and dinner at city walk.

I honestly didn't know u couldn't use the cup on another day. I saw lots of people at the resort taking them to park daily.

It's impossible to tell if you purchased the cup on that day or not. If Universal really intended on having people only use it for one day, they would stamp it.

Universal will fill any souvenir cup, even if it isn't still sold in the park, so the rules of only using the cup on the day of purchase is quite suspect.

I'm not sure where you heard this, but it isn't true. Both the softdrink and popcorn refillables are good for the life of the container. You can bring them back year after year and continue to use them.

Unless it's a recent change, it's not true. I've purchased them several times when I couldn't find/forgot to bring my old ones and have been told on more than one occasion by the person selling them that they were good for life.

It does say on the cup that it is good only for the day of purchase. It doesn't say anything on the butterbeer mugs though or the older souvenir cups.

However, I don't think the rule is enforced.
