My son will be 14 weeks during our trip. I admit being a little nervous using Magical Express without a car seat and wondered if anyone else has used it with a small baby. Do tell...

We used ME on our last trip when DS was 13 weeks old. Did not have a single problem on ME or any WDW tranportation with him the whole week.

I am more worried about our next trip as he will be 18 months and doesn't quite understand sitting. He will want to be running around so that will be a challenge!

You won't be able to use his carseat on any of the WDW buses (or boats, or monorails, etc) either, it's not just DME, it's all WDW transportation.

If the car seat is a deal breaker for you, you may want to rent a car. The youngest my DS was when we uses Disney transportation (NOT DME) was about 5, so I don't have any real world experience, but I know there are other posters who will have better experiences for you.

Isn't it just a bus?

Plenty of people take public transportation with little ones all the time...people take Greyhound buses with babies, etc.

I am a stickler for carseat usage in cars (and in airplanes mainly b/c having a lapbaby is a big ol' pain for the one holding said baby), but in a bus, or a boat, or a train...I have few problems just holding them. :)

I was wondering about this also. Obviously, car seats can't be used, but doesn't it worry people to be traveling on a major highway, without children in any type of restraint? Along with the fact that we taking a huge stroller etc, this is one of the reasons why we are renting a car, and will not be using disney transportation until our dd's are bigger.
We live in an area that really does not offer public transportation like buses, etc... so maybe this is why I am so nervous about it, since I don't have any experience with it.

You have to remember buses are the safest form of transportation on the road. B/c they are so big, they are less likely to be hit and are less likely to be hurt if hit. We are flying into Jacksonville instead of Orlando so are getting a car which makes me feel better b/c I was worried. I'm still nervous about using the buses to get to and from the park w/ my kids (10 mos, almost 3, and 4), but I'm trying to let logic win over my carseat knowledge. :goodvibes

Do your school busses have seatbelts? Most do not and transport 5-year-olds routinely.
