Will Disney let you use ME if you are not flying in that day? I ask because we are flying in 5 days before we are going to Disney. I had planned to return the rental car and us ME to our Disney hotel, but was told we can't unless we are flying in that day. I talked with 6 different people at Disney and our AAA agent called as well. I was told unless we flew in within the 4 hours prior we could not use ME to get to Disney, but could use it to go back. They said something about not being able to bring our luggage to the bus ourselves for security. However, I just read on another board about people flying in the night before, grabbing their luggage and a hotel and returning the next morning to grab ME. Has anyone done this? It would save us 5 days rental car.

I don't think they have information about whose taking what flight directly from the airlines. Just tell them when you are arriving at the airport. You can tell them you already picked up your bags.

On the other hand they might not care, you could just call and ask.

The problem is a legal one, Disney is not a transportation company like Mears or a taxi. The licensing they have is very restrictive on who they are allowed to pick up at the airport.

I know that some have advocated just picking a flight number around the time you want to use ME and telling that to Disney. I see an issue with this because it is more than just Disney rules, there are legal reasons that are part of the contract to do business at the airport.

It sounds like you have already talked to Disney several times and they said no. That seems to answer your question.

Even if you can't use ME, why would you then need to keep you rental car for 5 more days? You can always return it to the airport and then take Mears or a taxi from there to WDW.

I thought I would ask here, because I haven't talked to disney in about 6 weeks about it and we had planned on just keeping the rental car. It's about $150 more, and we most likely will not use it. I just read on another post about people flying in and staying at the arport hotel and then using ME the next day to Disney and was wondering if this was something new. It's the same as what we'd like to do.

I was told Mears is running $40 per person and there are 6 of us. We would also need 2 taxis. We can definitely keep the rental car, I just hate to pay for something that we probably won't use. It seems like wasted money.

Who are you renting your car from??

National and Alamo have rental offices on Disney Property. You could get checked into your hotel and turn the car in there.

Dollar has a rental car office at one of the DTD hotels right across the street from the DTD buses.

Shades of Green has a Hertz rental office.

Perhaps you could change your dropoff to one of those locations and avoid MCO after your "pre-Disney" stuff.

Even if you did just give ME a flight #, only one of you would need to take the bus.

Drop everyone and the luggage at the resort, then take the rental back to MCO and get on the ME bus for your resort.

Another solution if you can't get a ME reservation is drop everyone and the luggage at the resort, take the rental back to MCO and get a Mears one-way for one person to Swan/Dolphin, or Shades of Green. It is only $19.00 for a one-way Mears ride.

I would agree with Carol on this one. Why not drive to your resort, drop everyone off, with their luggage, then return the car. You could return at MCO and do as Carol suggested. Or you could check and see what other offices your rental company has. There are a ton of them in the DTD area...and a lot of them will shuttle you back to your resort. Or, you could just walk over to DTD, and take the resort bus.

Have to say that this is the first time I've heard of Disney telling you that you have to fly in that day. When I talked to DME they told me that anyone going from MCO to a WDW resort was entitled to a ride on DME. There are plenty of people who bring their bags to the bus with them, for whatever reason. Not absolutely sure what the deal is now....I would be interested to find out why the change.

Thanks everyone. i think i will have DH drop us off at the hotel and then return the rental car. That'll leave us more money for souvenirs!!!
