Day 1 - Feb. 15th.....

Me(Jason) - 34 yr old Disney nut...20+ trips to Disney
Wife(Brandy) - Moody, 18 week pregnant wife
Baby(No sex yet...no name, MIL...calls the baby Frank and Stella....so who knows....) - IN wifes stomach

Wife had left a few days earlier....to drive down with her parents...they were going down in a 5th wheel camper and staying a few places along the way.

Fast forward to Feb. 15th. I rise early in the morning....I pack the Aztek up with 3 dog beds...a big bag of dog food....a bag full of toys and medication (For Amos...more on him later). All the time thinking this is worse than having kids. I only have one carry on bag(wife took most of my stuff with them), so I throw that into the Aztek as well. After shutting off the water to the washer, unplugging the de-humidifier (Don't even ask me about this!), and the space heater downstairs.

I round up the cats...Jonus and Sebastian....will be stuck downstairs....Quintin as well but in the cat cage thing...hes a bad cat likes to mark....so he has his own home. All kitty litter changed, feeders filled and waterers filled. Check.

I round up the next three animals (yes we might as well own a farm)....our three dogs....Amber (8 year old Golden), Amos (5 year old Australian Shepherd), and Crosby (my peanut....2 year old Shetland Sheepdog). I eye Amos with a great deal of caution, as the night before he bit me twice, while fighting with Crosby over my pizza bites. I had to go to the emergency room, but Amber and Crosby enjoyed the bites as they went flying after Amos bit me and I screamed (mind you Amos is the nicest of dogs, just a bad incident for all of us). Anyway , I get all the dogs into the back of the Aztek and off to the kennel. I have never kenneled our dogs, but we had nobody to watch them...I get to the Kennel....Amos (a rescue with seizures), runs right out to the back fenced in yard of the kennel ( I never see him again until I return), Amber runs out into the kennel with the other dogs, while doing a jump on hind legs press belly against the sliding glass door routine (best way I can describe it), and Crosby hears other dogs barking and HEADS for the door! Crosby is shaking , and scared to death ( we expected this and thought he would have the hardest time, we were right!). After about a 1/2 hour I decide it's time for me to bolt...as I don't want to miss my flight, and when Crosby heads to the grooming room to sniff around, I make a run for the door. I get in the Aztek (already missing my dogs), and head towards my ride to the airport(my dad is giving me a ride to the airport)......

Rest of trip report to come later......

Thanx for the report ~ Looking forward to the next installement.

Good start, will look out for the rest,

Claire xx

Wow. After that start to head out on your trip you must have been ready for a vacation! That's a lot of animals!

So I head to my parents house (on the way to the airport) thinking...I need to get rid of this farm group of farm animals...but knowing damn well the wife would kill me. No matter...I head to my 'Folks" house. My dad gives me a ride to the airport in the Tek.....at that time I tell dad that I noticed my wifes Aztek is out of date for her inspection. I spent all night looking for her insurance and registration.....I remember her telling me in a proud voice..."I put the stickers on myself!". Unfortunately she threw out the paper! The insurance card is over a month late as well. So now we are trying to figure out how to get it in without the proper paperwork...so I use my internet junkiness....and I log on to both accounts....print out the paper work I can....and hand them to dad, saying good luck...hope you don't get pulled over on the way. I jump on my Jetblue plane and pray that all is safe and sound...only when I look over to the guy sitting next to me do I realize that I'm in a world of hurt......

Part 3 coming soon.....

The dog battle over the pizza bites had me :rotfl: . We had several similar experiences with a recently departed dog of ours. Always good for a laugh...after the fact, of course.

more more more!!! this is such a fun report to read!! :)

Now I am hooked - more please....Your pre-trip is as adventure filled as some trips!

I would like to apologize for not continuing this trip...this pregnancy thing is nuts...so busy so busy...trying to get the downstairs done so I can be moved....err move my stuff down there, trying to get baby room done etc etc....so I will continue from where I left off....

Day 1 Feb. 15th - Continued.....

I get dropped off at Burlington International Airport in Burlington, Vermont. I do the automated check in at JetBlue Kiosk, oh what fun technology does for us. I check my bags and notice a guy working TSO that I used to work with at IBM before the big layoff....neato.

I board the plan...everything is going great! Well almost.....I'm sitting in the seat closest to the emergency exit (always get that one), this guy sits next to me, man a little round....possibly in his late 20s, early 30s. No big deal....I put my headphones on and plug them in...tv comes on...I start flicking through the stations until a cartoon of some sort is on. I start watching waiting for our inflight emergency demonstrations. The guy that just sat next to me sticks his fat finger on my TV screen.....and says "whos that?". At this point I realize there is "something" wrong with this guy, as he's almost screaming. I look at him puzzled.....he then screams "whos that?", while pointing at one of the cartoon characters. I say I have no clue...he says..."we were just talking about him the other dayyyyy". I just look at him puzzled. So the stewardess starts to go over the instructions, seatbelts etc etc.....then the guy next to me starts to chuckle and says very loudly...all this preparation and they couldn't even stop some terrorists on the planes during 9/11. At that point I know I'm looking at him terrorfied thinking any minute some Air Marshal etc will yank this guy away. Then he starts screaming about bombs on the planes etc etc....at that point I'm pushing myself as far away from this guy as possible....almost trying to use osmosis to get myself out of the airplane through the plane wall. Luckily the only incident after this was with the other guy sitting in the row with us after take off. Poor guy was minding his own business, reading a magazine, then the guy next to me points his fat finger in the middle of the guys magazine, and starts asking all sorts of questions. I can see the look of terror in the other guys face now, and can imagine I had that same look earlier...better him than me I think, then turn up the volume almost as loud as possible....slighty shattering a eardrum (well thats what I thought), and thinking I can nap and this flight will be over, lucky for me the flight stopped and this guy got off...and I was off to my final destination of sunny Orlando Florida.......to be continued....

Yeek! scary man! how awful, can't wait to read the rest though...

Great trip report so far! :thumbsup2

Hey - I worked for IBM too! Which big layoff was that? I was laid off the summer of 2004. I had been considering starting my own business (not computer related) for a while, so other than the shock, I wasn't too upset.

Anyway, sorry for the OT comment... Congrats on being a daddy-to-be!

Would have been in 2001-2002 somewhere in there..I can't remember off the top of my head. Worked in the Essex JCT plant (known as BTV), they laid off like 1200 of us or so.

Going to be a little boy...so no princess for us! :)

I'm not a farm animal lover-good luck with with the animals when the baby comes.

Hope you continue your report.

Feb. 15th continued...Flight into Orlando goes great..I get my rental car, after being shown a Intrepid...and being asked..."would that be ok?", I end up with a four door Dodge Charger. Intrepid/Charger....umm same thing? NOT. I spend the next few hours trying to find out where my wife and her folks are camped out....which is a good ways away. I finally find the camp ground in the middle of the boonies. I go to the main office to find that they are closed!!! How will I find my wife in a huge park like this? Some old man looks at my look of confusion and tells me to go around the back of the main office, there is still someone inside, I do, and I speak with a lady inside. She doesn't look happy with me, but helps out still and tells me where to meet my wife and her folks...I pull up tired and ready for bed, as we have to get up around 5am...and head for Disney World!

Feb. 16th - Wife and I rise early and jump into the car...we drive towards Orlando passing through a run down area of Florida, wife is shocked to see, the "call girls", to put it nicely, out trying to pick up people at 5amish in the morning. Culture shock for her. We get to Disney World early, and I ask my wife if she would like to go check out Disneys Animal Kingdom Lodge (where we would be staying for two days), since the park is not open yet. She agrees, and we go to the Lodge. We pull up to the gate, say hello to the lady at the gate, ask if we can look around, she says sure, checks our name on the list, and states that we can check in our luggage early. Wife and I park the car, get our luggage out and wheel it to the main doors. Once we enter, we are hit with the most beautiful hotel, either of us have ever entered. The decor, the atmosphere everything looks great. Wife and I decide to go check in our luggage. We approach a nice young lady at the desk, explain that we are checking our luggage in early. We then ask the lady at the desk if there is any chance that we could get checked in a hour or two early, since Brandy (my wife), is pregnant and she is not sure if she can take the parks all day. The woman tells us she will see what she can do for us. The woman continues to type and get our stuff ready for us. As we get to the point where we are almost done checking in, Brandy, asks once again about getting in early. The lady behind the counter, states that our room is READY now and that we can head there NOW! Oh my that "Disney Magic" has started already!!!! We are being checked into our room at 7:30ish!!!
We make our way to our room which isn't very far from the main lobby (which was nice for DW). We enter our room, and see the first towel animals we have ever gotten at Disney! Woot "Magic Moment #2). We unpack, relax, go outside on the balcony, and see Zebras, Giraffes, and many other animals outside. We take pictures and video, and both of us are exited to start our on our next adventure....the parks! To be continues....
