Hadnt even been on splash mountain yet. Dylan didnt want to ride so I had to go myself. Wife tells me: dont worry cause the rise is gradual and its not scarey. Well I had a few choice words for her as the boat was going up the hill. My heart was poundin the rest of the day. SPlash was easy after that, I even kept my eyes open.

I am a first rate chicken myself (as is DD 11) and DH is the polar oposite. I want to break us both of our fears, and have planned to take dramamine so we hopefully wont get physically ill. I intend to go on all rides in June except for Hulk and Dragons. I still cant bear the thought of being flipped over:o :(

Just remeber that the thought of being flipped over is a lot worse then actually being flipped over. ;)

DW and I have gotten into some doozies over this ride! We rode it 2 visits ago and I loved it, she loved everything but "THE DROP". Last time we were there she could not make up her mind about whether to go on it or not. She kept saying no, and I tried to convince her, she'd agree, we'd get within 20 feet of the entrance and then change her mind! It happened several times.

To be fair, she has never liked drops. But there is so much more to this ride (and Splash Mountain, for that matter) than the drop. I don't mind going on the coasters alone, but something about JP seems wrong when I ride by myself.

We'll be there in 9 days, she says that she will ride it this time.

No, wait- now she says no!

I can totally understand your wife. I want to go on these types of rides so badly but my heart is pounding, my palms are sweating and I'm in such a dilemma. Everyone looks to be having so much fun but I have a morbid fear of heights. On Splash Mtn, I just close my eyes at the top and I'm fine. I'm hoping to get up the courage to do JP later this month - my first time at Universal. I understand that the drop is much more steep and higher than Splash, so I'm unsure. I made notes from a Universal book and wrote down what happens on the ride right before the drop, so I can close my eyes quickly. I too am undecided while in line and I have no trouble taking the "chicken" exit out. My DH and DD don't understand this fear at all, because they don't have the phobia. They either make fun of me or tell me that I'm missing out on some fun rides. Believe me, I wish I didn't have a fear of heights, wish I could take a pill for it.

Good luck with your wife.
