Me say Yay wife says Nay! Are our kids too young?

We have a 3 yr old and 1 yr old.

Please help by answering these questions:

1. Are they too young for WDW?

Would you or have you taken your little ones at this age? How did it go?

We've never been to WDW and I want to go the week after Turkey Day....Please help! If we go we plan on staying ate DVC 1 or 2 bedroom suite this way we can make our own food and the kiddies can be more comfortable....HELP my DW is driving me nuts with this they are too young still crap!

uhhh...yes DD#2 is now almost 5 months old and has been numerous times.....I think the younger they are the better - mine have always gone with the flow....BUT the majority of posters on the DIS totally are against "youngins" at WDW....I won't say what I am against at WDW.................................

We took our 20 month old in March 01, then took him again when he was 3 along with our 1 year old son. So, no I don't think it's too young. Our kids had a great time on each trip! The key to traveling with little ones is to plan on heading back to the hotel in the afternoon for a break. We always have a great time! I cherish the pictures and our kids love looking through the scrapbooks of our previous trips!

My kids are 9,7,6,1.We took them for the first time in April and had a blast!I wish I had taken the older ones when they were younger.Sometimes we all caught ourselves watching the baby instead of the shows and parades.She loved them.

Me say yay too!

We took our then 15 month old dd in 2002.

We are taking her again in 2 weeks & she is now just over 4 & our ds is about 21 months (he will be 2 in September).

Even if they don't remember it, you will. My dd loved the characters but was afraid of the face characters. But not all kids like them.

I finally got around to getting my pictures developed from my 2001 Disney trip (darn digital cameras do that to ya) & just looking at her face brings back so many happy memories.

If it helps, I went the first time to WDW when I was 3 1/2 & DL when I was 6 or 7. I remember a blip here & there but I look at the pictures & I am happy that I got to go way back when (gulp I am old!).

Well, it will be more for you and you will be impeded by kids needs. Feed,cleanup, change diaper and repeat.
Unless you are planning to do all the rides and leave the kid work to wife?

DD,4, votes camping (!) and WDW equal. She takes all the Magic for granted and is as thrilled with the moon as with fireworks.

I would not have taken mine that young. It is a matter of personal choice that you two will have to work out. My oldest was 8 and youngest was 3.5 when we went. I thought 3.5 was a little young to get much out of it. She was 5 when we went back and that went much better for the whole family.

We've taken our DDs from ages 1 through 8 and I'd say the most magical ages were between 2 and 4. Of course, the older they are, the more rides they can do but it's not quite as magical.

Also, the younger they are, the more they go with the flow and take it all in. As they get older, they whine and complain more!

Disney is a place that has something for everyone of every age. They'll be plenty of rides for them to go on; for you all to go on as a family. Then they have parent swap for the rides your little ones can't ride.

They'll love the parades and shows.

Yupper..We are taking our 3 year old for the first time this year!!! *yeah!* We have lots of friends who are like..oh thats silly, you will have to fuss with strollers, adn they won't remember it, blah blah blah..but I say...who cares!! LOL. She will remember some, and we will take pictures, she can look at those..but most of all. This is definatly for us *her parents* too. I mean, the joy we will get from seeing our little peanuts face when she see's cinderella..or Minnie Mouse..that will be memory enough to last us a lifetime.
Go..!!! Now, while they are young. Tottally different experience now while they are little than it will be when they are even 6 or 7.

My dd was 18 months the first time we took her and she LOVED it!! That was the trip wher her love affair for Eeyore started and she will be 8 in Sept. We went a bunch when she was still free...3-4 times a year!!

Oh... I say Yay !!! We have been going since my oldest (then) was 5 and youngest was 10 months.... they loved it. I think it's just more magical when they are young.... granted I agree, that the older they get, they get to go on all the "big" rides, but then they don't want to do all the fun magical rides like Dumbo, Small World etc...

We have gone every year since my 2nd was a baby, and you can see each year what different things get them excited... like now my oldest loves Space Mtn, Rockin Rollercoaster etc.... while my little guy still loves enjoying all the fun ones... and everyone still loves Buzz Lightyear ....

I think it's never too young to have fun at Disney World... wait till they see Mickey Mouse... and all the other characters... there's so much to enjoy, I wouldn't wait... do it while they are young..

It depends on your expectations for the trip. As you have never gone before, it might help to nail down your expectations.

We went with a 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 year old for our first trip with children. My husband had only been once before, when I dragged him on our honeymoon.

They aren't too young to ride Dumbo, enjoy character meals (unless they freak out), help you enjoy a lot of the other attractions (though not the "big rides" of course). They will also need a slow pace, naps and/or early bedtimes, limited exposure to fireworks, etc.

We ended up doing a longer trip because my parents came along. But my original plan was to take them down at a young age for a three day "short visit" MK and maybe AK (my kids are zoo kids) a character meal. And out. Still a good idea, though expensive with airfare, etc.

We took our daughter to DL when she was a year old and we took our son for the first time when he was 3. It was fine. We would have taken them to WDW if we had been able to afford it. Those ages are not too young and if they can't handle an entire day, you could break it up or cut it short. My kids loved DL all day and night. Debby

Perfect age for WDW. My DS was 10 months old when we first went and we loved watching him interact with the characters and everything else.

We also loved it when he was 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 5 and so on. Each year brought us different events from our trip and we never regretted doing it.

You would not be DisCommando's but will be able to enjoy WDW through many other ways. Do character breakfasts and part-time parks. Have fun at the pool and DTD. There are so many things to do to enjoy yourselves.

We went for the first time when DD turned 3 and DS was 4. We then went back 2 more times within a year.

For us, I'm glad we waited until they were a little older but it really is a matter of preference.

I think 3 is a great age. We took our 3- and 5-year-old boys to Disneyland last April and everybody had a great time. We left our 1-year-old boy at home with my parents. Now the 1-year-old is 2 and he's staying with the grandparents again when we go to WDW in October. We'll definitely take him to DL or WDW when he's 3. We're not depriving him of theme parks completely, though. He gets to go to Legoland and Seaworld with us next week. It'll be interesting to see how he does.

I was always hearing the same thing when I suggested we take our daughter, so myself and my mom and I took her last christmas right before her 5th birthday and it was wonderful! She's a great traveller for a kid and literally lasted all day in the parks but not every kid can do that so you have to be flexible. It's a holiday for the little ones, characters and parades and small rides so you have to be able to enjoy a week of that, which we are! We went back this may and took my daughter and my son this time who turned 2 last Dec. He was a little more difficult - mostly because there was both sets of grandparents with us and he was being spoiled and difficult. All of a sudden he wanted to be picked up constantly! It was hard but he had fun, it would have been easier had there not been so many people. We are going back this Christmas, but this time just my mom, me and the two kids. My Husband says he's not going back with the kids until my son is 4 or 5 so that's another opinion. As for remembering, my daughter remembers more of it than I do!!! And my son is still yelling out Wishes !! I figure at that age is more for the pure pleasure of something only these little ones can enjoy, the sheer magic of disney and I really don't care if they remember every detail when they are 21! Seeing the awe in my daughter's eyes when she first met Aurora was something I will never ever forget!
