ME or Towncar?

Okay, let's see if I make any sense here... ;)

We (2 adults) are counting down the days to our trip in early December. I am trying to make up my mind about airport transfers. We are currently booked with ME, and we are staying at the YC.

We have used ME twice in the past and have really enjoyed our trips to the resort. During our last trip, we were the only ones on the bus!

We have never really enjoyed our trip BACK to the airport, however, so I am debating on getting a town car for the ride back. (My Mom doesn't do well on buses, and the buses back are usually VERY full.)

BUT, I'm also thinking it may just be better to get a towncar for the roundtrip. (I'm afraid we may be pushing our luck with good bus service for the arrival trip...?) I'm just "afraid" that we're going to miss the magic of arriving on the DME bus... the video they show is pretty fun and cute. (Yes, I think I'm crazy too.)

Any thoughts? What should we do?

Thanks for helping to push me in a decisive direction!

We've done both ME and towncar. The only downside to the towncar service is that you have to get your own luggage upon arrival!!!!! Other than that, the towncar service is much nicer. You can request a grocery store stop if you wish, pick up bottled water, snacks, etc. on your way to WDW. The return trip is where it's much nicer. A quiet ride, no stress of waiting in front of the resort, hoping there's room on the bus, everyone in a bad mood because it's time to go home. So my vote is towncar!

I don't really mind getting my own luggage (since we wouldn't have to wait for it to be delivered at the resort), but couldn't I still send it on ME since we'll have the luggage tags? Or do I have to be on the bus in order to send the luggage that way?

(I'm quoting myself...)

Oops. Upon searching, this seems to have the potential to be a touchy subject. So, I guess I should just pick up my own bags if we go the towncar route!! :thumbsup2

DW and I started using the Towncar a number of years ago. Our thought was that since it is a vacation, we should treat ourselves. Its not that big of a hassel, and we are by ourselves and go straight to the resort. This last year was even better, as we pulled out of MCO we saw the people loading the on the DME. After flying from the west coast, we are too tired to deal with a crowded bus!pirate:

If you tag your luggage with the yellow Disney tags they will go to your resort and be in your room within 3 - 6 hours. You are free to take any form of transportation you desire. By contract with the airport Disney accepts responsibility for all luggage that has their tags on it.

(?) I have never gotten the yellow Disney tags! I make the assumption that since I started using the towncar service before they created the DME that they do not send them to me. Do you know if I can request them for baggage delivery? OR would that cost extra in addition to the towncar? Thanks!:thumbsup2

You get them if you sign up for DME. I'm sure it costs you somewhere, but it's hidden in the fees as long as you're staying on property - so no extra cost.

'Technically' you are not able to book luggage transfer via DME...according to the FAQ area at the WDW official site. But, there have been many people who have booked DME but taken a towncar/rental car and had their luggage go with DME and been fine.

I think, in order to get the yellow tags you have to make reservations on the DME. You don't get them if you just make reservations at a Disney hotel.
