When leaving WDW-POP Century to go home, you still have to carry your bags to the bus stop from your room? And then carry your bags from the bus to your airline to check in to go home??? Also do you have to call ME the day before you leave to conform? Thanks...

Yes, you will have to carry your bags to the bus area. If you are not using one of the participating airlines (which I'm assuming you aren't) you will then have the driver put your bags underneath the bus. When you get to the airport, he will get the bags out and you will head off to check them as you would if you had driven a car.
I have never called the day before to confirm. They have put a return notice on my door(or under it) the day before, letting me know what time to be at the bus....usually about 2 hrs. 45 mins. before the flight.

I am flying with Virgin and intend to use their downtown disney check in, but am still considering using ME to get back to the airport. Is this ok I will just have my handluggage with me. How do I arrange the return journey with them? Do I have to organise it before I go?

The last published rule was to reserve ME 10 days in advance of your trip, although folks reportedly have been able to arrange the return trip only just one day before resort check out.

Modifications or corrections to the return trip should be done at least one day in advance. You can do this at the resort.

You need to be ready to board the ME bus back to the airport 15 minutes in advance of scheduled time. Just to be sure, you should plan on being back at the resort an hour before.

Depending on what time you need to board Magical Express you can call for Luggage Assistance, but you will have to go WITH your luggage. (They won't come take it away for you.) We had an early flight and Luggage Assistance wasn't open until 6 AM. We had to drag ALL of the luggage down without any help.

We had a confirmation on our door listing the time of our Magical Express departure, so I didn't need to phone them.

For those on participating airlines:
The airline desk is OUTSIDE! It is NOT in the lobby at Pop! We wasted an incredible amount of time because the CMs gave us wrong information the night before we checked out. The airline desk is off to one side of the main entrance. I never noticed it until I was specifically looking for it.
