Day 2
We called the front desk (cabin) at Ft. Wilderness and asked for a transfer to the Wilderness Lodge. They happily obliged and also talked to a person who spoke a little Duetch, which because of my last name had come up. Anyway, they arrived and took us and the kids over to the Wilderness Lodge around 10:00 a.m. We had our luggage taken and then went inside to check in. Luckily our room was ready and off to our one bedroom we went. We were luckily next to the elevators on the forth floor.
On the way I called the grocery service we go shop and gave them our information. They said that they would deliver shortly before noon. The kids had fun running around the room, but mostly they really liked watching channel 96 on the TV. These are old cartoons that just loop over and over and they loved them.
Wegoshop.com delivered the groceries and also a small set of carnations for Mothers Day for my wife, very nice. We got everyone ready and went to Magic Kingdom. We went on a few rides, Buzz Lightyear and Astro Orbiters everyone except DW and TK who was snoozing. Ride lines were minimal and max wait was about 10 minutes. DW, JK and AK went on the Raceway and did the swap. They thought that was great since they got to ride twice. We then went back to the room for a while to give our littlest some cooling off time.
Everyone watched channel 96 and laughed at Donald. We didnt make but one PS for this trip and that was 1900 Park Fair. Being Mothers Day, we decided our best bet would be counter service at Magic Kingdom and watching the fireworks. We took the boat launch back over to the Magic Kingdom and decided on the Terrace Noodle Station. DW and I liked the food, but the kids were not thrilled, nothing that ice cream couldnt fix though.
We dumbly lucked out by sitting the lower Terrace section that overlooks the castle. We were eating around 7:30 p.m., so we finally figured out when everyone started to ask us if we would be leaving soon that this would be a good place to watch the fireworks from. Sorry everyone, not leaving. I went to go get ice cream, but found the lines very long. I decided that it would be better to get an ice cream sandwich cookie for everyone plus an apple tart.
When I got back, it was a countless stream of people trying to move chairs to get better views. Poor CMs who had to keep reminding people that this was not acceptable. Only saw one person behave in a boorish way, complaining loudly about how he wouldnt be able to watch the fireworks with his family. Oh well. DW got to watch the fireworks with her two oldest sitting on her lap. I think they really enjoyed the fireworks and we werent in the crush of the crowd either.
After the show, we made our way back to the boat launch and my DD decided that she had to go potty. DW and AK make their way back and barely make it back in time for the boat. We arrive back at our room after 10 with everyone dragging. So much for taking it easy. DW and I decided this trip that we would skip the early entry parks since we have not found it to be any better for us. With that in mind, it was planned for Epcot in the morning.
