ME at midnight

We will be arriving close to midnight and are toying with ME going to POR. Has anyone taen ME so late at night? Is it faster????

Funny you should ask this...we arrive at 1:00am on 3/8 or I guess 3/9. We were told to claim our own bags, then head to the counter. In addition to wondering about the OP's question, do we need to put the yellow tags on our suitcases since we're claiming them ourselves??? I was so excited to get our stuff last week!!

From what I have read on other threads, you do not put your yellow tags on your bags. The tags alert the luggage handlers taking the bags off the plane to send them in a seperate direction (on another van) rather than to the luggage carousel. You will just need to grab your luggage off of the carousel and go to the line to check in with ME.

The documents I received weren't specific to me except for my name on the tags. It's all general information, so you might want to call and ask.

If you do not put the yellow DME tags on your luggage and instead pick it up at the luggage carousel and bring it to the check in counter, yes, it will go with you. Luggage does not automatically go on the bus (not van) with the Guests - ordinarily it's transported by BAGS, Inc. as part of DME.
You should STILL pack immediate needs in your carry on bags - airlines lost, excuse me, 'misdirected' - 10,000 pieces of luggage PER DAY in 2005.

the only deal on airfare i can get right now is flying in at night the day before i actually wanted to arrive. i am planning on booking ME but not using the tags so that i can claim my own lugguage and just put them under the bus. when we went in december and arrived in the morning, many people still opted to get their own bags.

Do you mean, "is ME faster at night than during the day?"
or.."is ME faster than renting a car?" ... or "is ME faster than taking a car service?"

We took ME last Nov. arriving after midnight.
We picked up the bags ourselves off the baggage carousel.
Walked to ME desk.
Only a handful of people in front of us, so waited maybe a couple of minutes. Very quick, friendly, efficient service, especially considering we did not receive our vouchers on time; but no problem, we were in the system.

Waited maybe 10min for the bus, 4 or 5 famlies on our specific bus. I think the bus made 2 stops before ours.

So yeah, I think it might have been faster at night because the line at ME wasn't long, less people getting on the bus meant less time loading people and luggage and unloading at resorts.

During the day, there would be more CM's working and buses running, so timewise, it might be the same.
We could have just been lucky with the fast service that night.
