For those who have used ME on arrival and then hired a car later in the trip - how / where have you done this?

you just book ME one way with member services there is no problem doing it:thumbsup2 or if you want a car in middle of stay book a car from disney car rental from most brokers and bookME both ways with member services

Sorry, I didn't make my question very clear - I was trying to ask about the car rental bit of the trip, not the ME bit!

What I meant was how did you arrange the rental car for pick up later in your trip? Which rental company did you use, where can you pick up, how does the cost compare to picking up from the airport, etc.?

The only time we've collected a car part-way through a trip (many years ago) we ended up paying through the nose, but we hadn't pre-booked. I'm trying to find out the easiest/cheapest way to do this :)

We did this at Christmas took ME to our first resort then hired a car for the bit in the middle, we booked it before we went. Choose one of the UK car hire firms (we used USrentacar.co.uk ) and in the menu where you select pick up location we chose Disney Car Care Center. This is run by Alamo and is close to MK. We had concierge call Alamo to arrange for them to collect us and take us to the Car Care Center (the front desk at the resort can also do this) We arranged to drop the car back to MCO but you could also drop it back to the Car Care Center and go back to the airport on ME. The cost was the same as if we had hired the car from the airport.

like i said we had a car in middle for a week used www.yescarhire.com in past and used me to and from airport. There are plenty of outhers to chouse from.one week car rental with platinum insurance should be about £120.00.Reason i said use disney car care(alamo),the one outside MK.Is that you get free transportation from onsite to and from it you have to go througth bell services and they arange pickup would say book it the day before

I often use Airline Network for good prices Hilary, and have seen that you can pick up at The Grosvenor at Hotel Plaza Blvd close to DD Marketplace. They use Dollar and the prices start at £13 a day - or £94 per week fully inclusive. Platinum hire, including extra drivers and full tank of fuel is an extra £17 per week. www.airlinenetwork.co.uk

Thanks everyone - it sounds simple enough!

We always book this now, ever since we found out the exorbitant mark-up on a tank of fuel if you returned it less than full

Hi, we used Alamo this January and it cost us a fortune. When we booked our flights for november with Virgin I asked about the cost of car hire with them (fly drive I guess it would be) and it was SO much cheaper.

That's surprising - usually it's the car rental insurance added to the fly-drive price that makes it expensive. Recently we've found an inclusive rental deal with Alamo or Dollar much cheaper than just the insurance with a fly-drive.

When we have booked through trailfinders there is often a deal on car hire if you buy it the same time as the flight. Sometimes you have to have it for the whole period and sometimes it has to be a certain number of days. It has worked out better for us to do it this way sometimes and other times we do the car hire seperately. I like Alamo because they are at the Disney Car care centre and easy to get to. It just depends where you get the best rate from.
