Do any of you guys have any experiences with flights coming in at exactly 10pm and luggage delivery?????? My flight was originally supposed to land at MCO at 9:45pm but that has since changed to 10pm. SW put a little buffer in for themselves, nice......Life would be easier to have just 1 piece of luggage not to lug through the airport.
Hypothetically if plane lands at 9:50 would they deliver it? And when would it show up at my room?
Thanks

If it were me, I would leave the tags off and get that piece of luggage myself. When they say they quit at 10, they mean at 10. If your flight arrival is scheduled for 10, then you won't be at the gate until after that...which means no one working at DME luggage pickup. Even if you arrived at 9:45 it would be iffy.
I always recommend leaving tags off and getting checked bags yourself if you arrive any time after 8pm. We are told to expect our bags, in our resort room, up to 4 hrs after resort checkin. So...if you arrive at the gate at 8pm, you will most likely be at your resort by 9:30 (maybe 9:15), which means bags may not get there until midnight. Can they arrive earlier than that??? Sure they can, but do you want to take that chance???
So, if DME did actually take your bags, at just about 10pm, you might not see them until close to 1:30am!!

Don't tag that bag, and get it yourself!!!

Got it and totally agree with you, I was just looking for any experiences.

I am in the same boat. Even if you tag it and get in after 10:00, the luggage still ends up in baggage claim, not held overnight.

Thats what a CM told me lately when I called.

I don't think anything should be iffy but instead there should be a cutoff time (I think we can all agree on it: 10:00 PM at present). If you step off the plane before that time you may go directly to the Magical Express welcoming area and the bags will be delivered. If you step off the plane after that time you need to go to the carousels to get your baggage, yellow tags on it or not.

Even for arrivals somewhat before 10 PM it is possible for yellow tagged bags to not make it to your room until dawn; this is uncommon but unpredictable. At Pop Century and All Stars DME bags are not delivered to the rooms after about 10 even though the baggage trucks are still arriving after that.

Bags left at the carousels may or may not be taken to a locked storage area. Bags in the locked storage area may or may not be brought out into the open early each morning where DME CMs may or may not pass by frequently and grab them for putting into DME. However, if the DME CMs at the airport are kibitzed (perhaps via a chain of events starting with your report of nonreceipt at the resort front desk) the DME CMs will definitely have it gotten out of the locked areas.

Because the DME baggage CMs at the airport are gone by 10 PM, DME will not have the baggage count and claims mechanism in place to start a claim with the airline and thus protect you in case a bag never gets to Orlando. From the guests' side (point of view) the most significant point and probably the deciding factor would be if the guest followed the instructions in the brochure, namely went to get his bags if he arrived after 10.

We came in once on a flight that arrived about 11:00 pm. We were told we would have to get our own bags and bring them aboard the ME.

If in doubt, I think this is the way to go. You certainly don't want to start your vacation off with lost baggage!

Even before they started the 10:00 cutoff time we once had a flight that landed at like 9:00 and they said the bags might not come until midnight. I just packed everything we needed for the night in our carry-ons and when we got to VWL I just told the front desk to hold our bag until the next morning. I didn't want to wait up for it. They left a silent voice mail message on the phone during the night to say they had it. I called first thing in the am & they brought it to us within 10 minutes.

Now that they started the 10:00 cut-off tho we either just fly in carry-ons only or we have to go get any checked bags we bring. If our flight was to land right at 10:00 I would just plan to go get the bags. I wouldn't trust them to be left.

No. Bags left at the carousels will be taken to a locked storage area. It's disingenuous to imply DME-tagged luggage not picked up by by the CMs or the passenger will sit out in the open all night.

The rest of the 'may or may not' statement is wrong as well. Secured luggage isn't simply brought out into the open (to what end - so some stranger could walk off with it? really?) Cast Members actively collect DME-tagged luggage and send it off to the sorting center, where it's processed with the newly arriving bags.

However, if the DME CMs at the airport are kibitzed
It would be both appreciated and beneficial, when using a foreign word, to first ensure the word makes sense in the context of the statement. This one doesn't.
