I'm worried I possibly ruined a surprise trip...

I just booked a trip today. It's for April, but I plan to surprise my family with the details at Christmas.

When making the reservation, I selected the people going...including my husband, of course. My husband has his own MDE account....and I'm worried...will he get an email that a trip was booked? If so...no point keeping the secret from him anymore. I already almost spilled the beans by accidentally texting him instead of a friend about the trip earlier! I think I managed to get past that without raising too much suspicion....but who knows...

I'm done rambling. Just....will he get an email about the trip?

And, there you have it.

The only notifications will be sent to the e-mail address of the MDE account you used to book everything.

I am doing the same thing with a surprise 40th birthday trip for my wife this November. For our past trips we have used our joint e-mail address for our MDE account, but for this surprise trip I used a personal e-mail account for a different MDE account. My wife and kids are selected and we did not receive any notifications to our joint e-mail account. I also made sure I used my work address for any potential mailings. I don't want anything sent to the house to tip her off. The harder part of keeping the surprise was trying to keep the finances hidden so she wouldn't see the airline charges, etc. So far, so good!

Good luck!

I don't think that is true. In regards to my reply above, if I log into our other MDE account I do not see the November trip anywhere.

You linked it to their real accounts or did you make fake accounts for everyone on the resort? When we booked they auto linked it to my fiance since we are linked in MDE and the names matched. He could see everything and I could see everything. If i was trying to make a surprise trip I would have to specifically ask them not to link it. I'd also have to make a fake account for myself. Even our friend can see everything since our MDEs are linked and she has traveled with us before and I put share all plans with her just like I see every trip she has.

If the OP is connected to her husbands MDE account via the Family & Friends list, he will see any plans that he is part of.

I'm not sure what a fake account is, but I guess the deciding factor is the linking you are talking about. We have two MDE accounts where I manage all the parties involved and no one is linked. I would imagine, like you said, if I linked the two MDE accounts the data would be shared between the two accounts. I suppose the answer is that if you want to try and surprise someone with a trip, create an MDE account that is not linked to anything else.

By fake account I mean signing up for a 2nd MDE that is separate from the one you would use on your regular trip. Thus not linked to anyone you know and just is yours. So they aren't really fake but aren't your usual trip account since it won't have your family and friends or anything on it.

The text wasn't specific. My husband knows this friend and I have crazy conversations, so I think (hope) this text came across that way. He seemed to take it that way, anyway.

I thought about that, but I very highly doubt he would log into his MDE account, since as far as he knows, we don't have a trip planned. He absolutely loved Disney, but isn't as crazy obsessed when we don't have a trip planned!

I'd just make up a new husband in your MDE and not link his account at all.
