MDE problems

OK, I realize it is a computer program. It only can do what it is programmed to do. Unfortunately, it isn't programmed to handle the way we plan a trip. :sad1:

For the past 10 years, this is they way we have done it. I make the resort reservations, MIL buys the park tickets. So, this year (our first with MDE), I created an account and made the resort reservations. She created an account and bought park tickets. Then we linked the accounts and now there are 2 of everybody. :worried:

Of course, now that I look through the help files, I realize she and I should have linked BEFORE we bought anything, but that was REALLY unclear. I forsee several hours on the phone with tech support to fix this one. Luckily today is our 100 day mark so I have some time to fix it before my FP+ window opens.

Anyone else have crazy problems like this?

This happened to my mom and I, and my grandparents... I have my own account and so do my mom and grandpa, but my grandma plans through making phone calls and such.... while trying to get everyone's tickets organized, we had three grandmas! I called up tech support and they quickly made all three grandmas into one human being, :rotfl2:

Are you sure you want to fix it? Look on the bright side - maybe that will let you reserve twice as many FP's??? :)

I had the same problem, 2 or 3 of the same people...some had FPs linked while others had tickets linked. It was a mess, I freaked when I finally noticed, but a call to support & it was fixed in about 30 seconds by CM Ursula. She said it's common. Give them a call, it'll get taken care of :) :thumbsup2

Admittedly MDE is glitchy, but in defense of MDE in this instance, it wasn't so much a glitch as it was user error... right? (Or should I say "mother-in-law error"?)

BTW I had a similar issue, called WDW, and it was fixed in about 5 minutes. (Less time than it takes to post on the DIS!)

If it took me over 5 minutes to make a post on the DIS, I'd have keeled over from exhaustion in 2003.

;)

I would call! We had similar troubles last year. I had an account, sis in law had one, and she made all the arrangements. We ended up with doubles of everyone. We called them and they fixed it (it was a lengthy phone call but there were 15 of us). When we arrived, we found out the techs deleted the wrong account for my son and the one that remained did not link up to his magic band etc.

It took probably an hour at the front desk to fix and he wasn't linked up with our fast passes at all. They somehow made it so his band just received 3 anytime / anywhere fast passes each day so he could still join us in all the plans we had. It wasn't a big deal in the end, just annoying spending the time to fix it! The clerk at the AKL was not terribly friendly about it either. The manager that fixed it in the end was great, but she was very outwardly annoyed with us and basically saying she couldn't do anything (his tickets wouldn't work and he wouldn't have been able to get in the parks, for her to say she couldn't do anything was ridiculous!) until we asked for a manager.
