Wasn't sure where to post this, but here it goes. I have an Android phone running the My Disney Experience App, which is working fine incidentally, but now when I open the app, for a couple seconds, a screen opens and says something to the effect of "the app needs to be updated and will quit working on 9/29." The screen only stays open a couple seconds so I can't read it entirely. When I go to the Play Store to see about reloading the app, it says that "Your device isn't compatible with this version".

Has anyone else seen this or had any similar experience? We are only a couple weeks away from a 2-week stay and we really like using the app during our visits. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help.

I read about this on another post. Apparently it has to do with your version of android. Something like....if you have a 'lower' version of android, MDE wont work on your phone. You need to have an upgraded version of android on your phone. Some ppl with a samsung galaxy s3/s4 cant seem to get the app to work either. If I find the thread i was referring to, i'll post it here.

BTW if the problem still isnt fixed by the time youre in disney, the solution seems to be to use the web based MDE on your phone.

I guess someone in the Disney IT department just assumes that everyone gets free phone upgrades and always has the latest and greatest.

So strange. I have a Galaxy S4 running Android version running 5.0.1?? Haven't seen these messages yet. But I'm going to watch this thread just in case.

It's pretty common for app developers to not support running on older operating systems. And it's very common for older phone to not support newer operating systems.

The S4 is now 3 years old, and the S3 4 years - most phones have an accepted 2 year life, and mobile carriers tend to stop updating them after that point.
Two years ago when iOS8 was released, Apple stopped supporting iOS7 all together (and they are already on 10, where Android is on 7, and was on 5 2 years ago)

This is an issue with carriers - they are the ones refusing to update older phones - not the Disney developers
