There's a number of ways you could go but your going to add considerable time to your trip. The first half of 528(up to exit 4) doesn't have tolls aim to get there then go down I4 any other way depending on the time of day would be considerably longer.
Here is the toll free route from the landside terminal:
-from south exit take Boggy Creek Rd South
-u turn at J Lawson Blvd
-left on E Weatherbee Rd
-right on S OBT
-left on Central Florida Pkwy
-slight left on I-4 W, keeping left upon entry and taking exit 67 to Epcot Center Dr (535)
-right on N World Dr towards Magic Kingdom
-exit left towards Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
-right on Floridian Way
-Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will be on your right!
We’re planning to fly to Orlando, drive to St. Augustine to visit relatives, then back to Disney World. Just saw that tolls are likely. We have EZ pass. Have you actually used EZ pass or just read that’s an option? Looks like Avis gives themselves a nice bonus if we use their system.
I’ve finally reached the age where ease is often more important than economics (NEVER thought I’d say that!) so won’t bring our EZ pass is it more trouble than saving a few bucks.
I even stopped worrying about Visitor Toll Pass for my rental. I only have to pay a $5 fee on arrival day, again on departure day, and whatever tolls are charged. I think the last two trips down I ended up paying less than $20...well worth skipping the hassle of remembering to set up the rental on my EZpass/remembering to take the transponder home as well as the time and effort for VTP.
I don't take 'unlimited tolling' when I rent the car...that's too much. Budget only charges about a $5 fee on any day that you go through a toll plaza.
