ANYone know if SW will add non stop flights in May for early flights?
All they keep showing are connections up till 6 pm. Never had this problem before. All there non stops are at 6 pm or after and there are only 2:)

SW does not usually add additional flights after the schedule comes out.

They now own AirTran and it looks like there are 4 non-stops there, one 8:00am. They did the same thing at PIT, they moved some Orlando flights to AirTran. Eventually they will phase out AirTran but they probably want to use the Southwest planes elsewhere during the transition.

SW has really gone to alot of 1 stop flights coming and going from PHL, it use to be most were non stop, but late this year that seemed to change.
I flew USairways this past December because I wanted to get to PHL before 6:00 because I was going to work the next day.
In May I am flying SW because I want a later flight coming home.
Although I have to say after flying USairways I may stick with SW in the future even if I am not thrilled with the flights. Service was fine on USairways, but everyone taking carryon was aggravating, it took for ever to load the passengers since everyone is standing in the aisle trying to get their luggage into the overhead. I was in zone 2 and had no place to put my carryon when I got on the plane, unless I wanted to put my stuff in the back of the plane which I did not want to do since I was in a seat in aisle 8, they did check it for me for free, but what a pain.
Hopefully SW will give us more non stop flights in the future.

I had to book AirTran going down to Orlando in March, for the same reason. I would WAY rather book SW, but the SW flight times out of PHL are lousy right now.

I would rather book SW all the time, but I seem to be using them less as they add more connecting flights, and change their flight times..... I understand WHY they are doing it, it just does not work for me.

When looking for alternatives, I found Virgin America for flights to LAX out of both PHL and Newark, for a DL trip.

Looking forward to the conversion of Air Tran to SW.

I wouldn't count on it. SW have really cut out non stops from PHL to everywhere.

Mainly because it's a big USAirways hub. They have been backing away from other airline's hub cities, competition drives the fares too low.

As it was when they started there. :confused3 I guess things didn't pan out they way they thought?
I was a huge SW fan. But now they have eliminated direct flights to two of my destinations and cut down to only two daily directs to MCO. In doing this, they have now driven most of my business to USAir. It's like they cut off their nose to spite their face.

Ditto- I have been noticing this for about a year now. i think they are trying to push folks to use AirTran more.

If they weren't making money on the routes, why continue? Flying full planes that lose money doesn't work. They can use those planes elsewhere where they can make more money. I'm sure they had high expectations when they started. For example - they were flying PIT-PHL in competition with USAirways. The competition drove fares down to the $100-$200 range. USAirways had more passengers on the route, business people like the elite perks the legacies offer (first class) plus PHL is an international hub to Europe for US. So Southwest backed off and cancelled the route. USAirways fares immediately shot up to $600.

I think this is just temporary during the transition. They are moving the Southwest planes to markets that they have converted or are new to SW (Atlanta). Eventually AirTran is going to disappear, their 717's are being leased to Delta, their 737's will be changed to SW colors and logo.
