What's the fastest cheapest way to get to AKL from MCO? Our flight arrives at about 11:35 pm on 8-7-15.
Reading that people have waited an hour + for DME has me a little concerned. We have an ADR at Tusker House at 9:30 the next morning.

Over ten million people have used DME since it was introduced more than ten years ago. The vast, vast majority don't have those long waits you read about. Total average travel time, from jetway to resort, is 70-90 minutes.

That wouldn't be possible if the typical wait for a bus were an hour or more.

If you don't want to wait for magic express suggest you take a taxi. Or if your group is large hire a private van. guess you have to judge what's more important...getting there as quickly as possible or getting there free. If you do take ME be sure to take bags with you on bus do there is no waiting for them

With a flight arriving at 11:35 PM, you would have to get your bags from baggage claim since DME doesn't collect luggage after 10 pm.

Yep, we have to grab our won bags after 10:00.
Hopefully it won't be too busy that late at night.

Here are my times with various modes of transport....as best as I can remember.

DME...gate to resort....having to collect bags.....80-100 mins....free!

Car service...gate to resort...checked bags......60-80 mins, usually around 65 mins average....about $50-60 one way.

Mears....gate to resort....checked bags.....90 mins....but, only $20 one way.

Yes, there are quicker times, but they involve not having to get your bags...you can safely cut off about 20 mins of time.

I have switched to paying for a car service when flying in late at night. For me the peace of mind knowing I will just have to grab my bags and go is well worth the cost. All it took was one trip where it took us almost 2 1/2 hours to get to our resort using DME late at night. Maybe most of the time people don't have that experience, but once was quite enough for me. Knowing I will be at my resort in around an hour is well worth the $70.

What service did you use and how many people?

I have used both FL Tours and Quicksilver. They don't charge per person they charge by where your resort is. Fl Tours picked us up in a Lincoln town car and Quicksilver picked us up in a Cadillac SUV.
