If you’re flying from a Preclearance Airport, you won’t have to use it when you land as you’ll act like domestic passengers upon arrival, subject to random inspection by CBP. If you’re flying from a non-Preclearance Airport like Saskatoon, that’s a different story and chances are you’ll need this app.

My parents used it and said it was a gamechanger. They flew out of Halifax to Pearson to Orlando. They said it saved them tons of time in the Customs line.

It has nothing to do with which airline you are flying on. It's Customs.

I had totally forgot about this app! Arriving Friday on Porter, when do I fill it out? Then what?

You're flying out of Ottawa. You'll do customs at the Ottawa airport. No need to worry about the app.

You'll use this at the airport where you clear US customs, not MCO but Ottawa since they have pre-clearance. The app is really usefull in Montreal, to skip part of the US Custom lineup, which can be horrible! I used it twice last year. Once I was travelling by myself, spotted an ex-colleague in the other line. Finally met him on the US side and he confirned he spent 1+ hour in line (I spent 15 minutes). 2 years ago we waited over 2h with the kids without MCB...
