MCO Security Lines

I have the MCO app, which show the wait time for security. How accurate are the wait times? I’m just trying to get an idea of how much time to allow. If I know that wait times are accurate, I can plan better.

Unfortunately we never checked the app so don’t know how accurate it is. Don’t know if this is of any help, but we left on a 9:30 AM Tuesday flight, and the wait time was maybe 20 minutes.

I fly out of MCO probably five times a year and can't remember the last time I waited more than 20 minutes in a security line. I do, however, have pre-check

Dropped my wife off at MCO yesterday (9/11) and walked her in. Posted wait time was 6 - 10 minutes, but there were very short lines. That was at about 11 AM.

The app uses the same data for wait times that are on the signs. The problem is that the wait times can suddenly change, to your benefit and to your detriment.

I think the reason MCO security always takes so long is you get large groups with kids who don't travel a lot. They take FOREVER going through security because they're not used to all the rules. I think it's a lot of people's 1st/2nd/3rd time on an airplane. Part of the reason why I finally ended up getting Precheck.

That being said, aside from super busy holiday times, I've never seen it above 25 minutes.

The reason I ask is because when we went two years ago, Security was insane! We got there two hours prior to our flight, but we waited well over an hour. I know construction was going on at the airport, so maybe that was part of it. I just hate feeling rushed and like to leave plenty of time.

Same at BWI. It’s my home airport and as busy as it is, I’ve never had a problem there.
Few years back we surprised to breeze thru security coming back from Mexico there, but needing to hurry thru the very long length of terminal to reach our connection at the SWA gate

A handful of times took spirit out of MCO thru terminal B and had a very long wait in line at security. One of the reasons we purchased precheck.

TSA is the worst in Orlando. Boston, super easy.

Wrong. When there are three cruise ships in Seattle the security line can be so long they have to setup the queue into the parking garage. It can be a hour +. We had to get precheck to avoid the lines.

Anything domestic, 1 hour and 30 minutes is plenty.

Arrive at 1:30pm for a 3:00pm flight. Security is rarely over 20 mins, but that gives you a cushion in case i jumps to 45 or 60.

Arrive @ 1:30
Check bags by 1:45
Through security by 2:15
Arrive at Gate by 2:25
Board plane by 2:30
