My best friend and I are meeting up at MCO Friday (we live in different states). She will beat me there. Can she meet me at the gate - be there when I get off the plane? Or should we just plan to meet at, say, the Disney Store in the airport?

If she is flying the same airline, she could hang around that part of the airside, however, if she is coming in on a different airline, they will not let her through security.
Only ticketed passengars are allowed past security.
IE: she flies in SWA, you fly in Delta. She cannot enter through Delta's security.
The Disney store is definitely a better idea.

Disney Store as a meeting place! My SO and I are arriving at MCO 2 hours apart (leaving from different cities on the 19th), and I was going to have him just meet me at the rental car counter.

I'm arriving first, so I was gonna go get the car sorted out, drop my luggage in the rental car, then head back and loiter around the Budget rental car counter till he arrived.

I'd be able to go back up into the terminal and wait at the Disney Store though, right? I mean after I've gotten my luggage and done the rental car thing?

If you meet at the rental counter, be sure it's the right side. There are counters on both A and B sides.

Yes, you would be able to go back up to the main terminal and wait near the Disney Store. This store is located right next to the security check point. Take the elevators from the Rental Car Level back to Level 3.

I thought there were two disney stores (with different names) - if so, make sure you get the right one. Or, meeting at the bottom of the escalators in baggage claim is good - that is where the towncar drivers meet their parties.

There are 2 disney stores (small) over near the Delta area and then there is the big one near the security area!

Eek-- didn't even thing about different car rental counters, and didn't realize there were 2 Disney Stores!

I must say I don't pay much attention in the airport since I'm making a beeline for the car rental counter so I can get onsite as fast as possible :)

Okay, so escalator down to baggage claim, there's only ONE of them, right? If that's where drivers are meeting passengers then it should be easy to NOT miss someone as long as I keep checking if his flight has arrived.

Right? (insert mild tone of worry here, as SO is well-known for getting meeting places WRONG)
