We are taking my daughter's friend with us to WDW in December. She cannot stay the entire time with us, so after six days we are taking her to MCO and putting her on a plane back home. Will someone in our party be permitted to go with her to the gate and ensure that she is safely on the plane? I know for security reasons that many airports are only allowing people with tickets to go past security, so I have some concerns about this.

Thank you.

Debbie

Is she flying as an unaccompanied minor?(age 17 or less) Call your airline to check on procedures. Some have escorts that meet at security.Other airports will allow a parent/guardian with photo ID. In any case they just won't let a child wander on their own. Things change frequently so be on the safe side and call your Airline. Here is the MCO site. Check #8.
Sorry it's not much help.http://www.orlandoairports.net/goaa/security.htm

My son(10) flew to RDU in April as a unaccompanied minor on USAir. I had to fill out paper work at checkin and was giving a pass to show to security so that I could walk him to the gate. To do this I had to stand in the LONG checkin line.

When he returned, I was given a pass to meet him at the gate. Did not have to stand in line this time. USAir charges a $40.00 UM fee for each leg of the trip.

I think it is up to the individual airlines because they are the ones who issue the passes to get thru security. This past March my two children flew Southwest out of Buffalo. When I went to checkin with them I asked about going to the gate with them. She wasn't going to let me because my children are teens but there was a snowstorm going on and I said I couldn't leave the airport until I knew that they took off okay. She would only let me go, not my husband. She wrote on their tickets that they were being accompanied.
