Will be flying out of MCO to DUBLIN this summer and wondered what the airport duty free was like. I was interested in the usual booze and cigars but also beauty products from clinique and lancome. Is there a good selection and what's the prices like. I won't get to Florida mall so it's my only chance to buy premium items.thanks

We have only done a mall once - not really appealing to the rest of the family so we don't ruin our holiday by me making them shop! The duty free at MCO is very small (think somewhere like Stansted or the ones you come out into upon arrival at Gatwick). In addition to the duty free there are a few stores such as a electronics store and an electronics vending machine (both cheaper than home but not by big bucks) and a few market type stalls. Also a newsagent (sells random gifts too and books) and a few food kiosks.

The alcohol in the duty free isn't that cheap except for the bourbons which can be bought for silly price. (A couple of years ago you could buy a half bottle of bourbon for $7.50 with other purchases of a specific amount). They have a fair bit of make up and perfume but some brands aren't cheaper than they are here so you need to know what you are looking for. Clinique is generally way cheaper but I can't tell you about lancome not sure I have ever even seen it in there. The imported brands of perfume such as Chanel are rarely cheaper (except for back in 2007 or 2009 when the exchange rate was about $2 to the £1) I usually pick up some Clinique mascara and it is approximately $10 -$12 per bottle which is much less than I pay here. The cigarette and cigar choice is fairly large for such a small outlet but as nobody in my family smokes I don't know how cheap it would be. Again there is some USA chocolate and gifts but nothing amazing.

When you buy it they deliver it to your flight as many passengers are internal and not international and you pick it up as you get onto your plane.

Just an add on (not sure how well you know MCO) there are lots of nice shops before security (including a kennedy space centre and Disney) where you can pick up last minute bits if you want to and we always grab krispy kreme donuts for our breakfast on the plane :)

Thanks for your help.i normally would have been travelling from Sanford airport and hoped the international airport duty free would have been the same size or even bigger

Here Goes .

Buy your Duty Free ...... In Dublin ........ Collect on way back. ( Collect in Transfer Area .... Check if this correct )
