McDonalds Snack Carts??

They may not be supposed to talk but they were hugging me while we were posing so we were dead close and then they were all like "we work for tips over here you know. Where else can you pose with us?" It was the same on Boulevard of the Stars. I got my photo taken with two storm troopers from Star Wars and they asked me to tip them as well! Maybe it's just a California thing but it does put you off

So your saying that 2 separate characters asked for tips inside the disney parks?
Sorry I can't get my head around this, I've been going to disney world for 26 years and never would a character dare ask for a tip they would be sacked!!
Did you report the characters and CMs what did you do for the CMs to swear at you? Did they do it loudly so others could hear?

How many yrs ago was this I've done disney California too and I just can imagine this ( not saying your lying just utterly shocked) I can't believe you did not report them I would have gone straight to GS and demanded somebody speak to the characters in question, not only did they speak which means they broke character a huge no no but asked for a tip lmao!

Now in Hollywood I totally expect this as that is how they earn their money!

It was about 10 yrs ago (told you it was a long time ago!) and I was over visiting my eldest brother who lived out in LA at the time. The CM's were swearing at a load of us tourists because people wanted to sit with their friends, relatives etc but the CM's wanted to fill every seat. That happened on Pirates of Carribean and Indiana Jones rides. Can't remember which other one it was. (Got a feeling it was Haunted Mansion but not 100% sure.) I'd never been to Disney before but have always been a real bookworm esp where children's literature's concerned and am a BIG kid so we decided to do there instead of Six Flags. I didn't know at the time whether it was the done thing or not (esp given how you do have to leave a tip for everything in USA) even though it did COMPLETELY take the shine off everything for me and I didn't know where or how to complain.

Yeah.. sorry, I should've explained my bad experience was that, at the California park, I was asked for a tip from both Tigger and Whinnie The Pooh as well as being sworn at by CM's on 3 different rides! I've also found Disney's customer service over the phone when trying to plan this trip has been shockingly bad and cost me a fortune for the privilege. It kind of leaves a bad impression of Disney when all the non-Disney places couldn't do enough for me. I'm hoping they're going to restore my faith in them and make my son's dreams come true but we'll see.

Aren't all of the Disney numbers free to ring? I know they were for us anyway. And all of the cast members we spoke to on the phone and in person were so nice and helpful, Disney staff are literally the nicest people you will ever meet

I agree and I don't mind when they put me on hold lol i get to enjoy a little sing along until they answer and hear me

I just came back from disneyland California and can't believe anyone would ask for tips. The cast members are the its disneyfied than anywhere I have been.

Did you go to hollywood boulevard in LA on your trip there are fake mickey and Minnie etc that work for tips?

It was definitely Disneyland California coz my brother and his family had annual passes and they were that disgusted they've never been back. It may have just been a bad few staff who have since left but that sort of thing sticks with you for a lifetime.

Who needs Mcdonalds fries when disney fries are so much better.

We're in wdw now and all of us think the fries are fab, second only to the mash which is incredible!

Was only wondering coz we found it really handy being able to get fries and eat them as we walked rather than queue to get in packed quick service places when we were at Disney in California. As has been said before, you can walk a good 26 miles in a day so eating while you walk is always a good thing! :)

Wow! 26 miles a day, I don't think I have ever walked that much at Disney World ;) They still have kiosks that sell fries and other snacks, they just don't sell McDonalds fries.

As stated in one of my previous posts, it's been just over 10 yrs since I was at Disney in California so am not surprised they stopped McDonalds fries/snack carts there as well.. am sure that also goes for Paris and anywhere else they may have anything Disney related. I believe someone also previously posted it's a move that was made due to them not renewing their contract with each other.

You would be surprised how much you do walk not a marathon a day though.

Certainly feels like a marathon on those really hot and humid days though LOL!

:thumbsup2

I think we did the bare minimum last September, we hated the humidity then and basically just walked to a ride etc then went and sat down with a cool drink afterwards. We calculated one year that we walked 10 miles max a day and it prob averaged at around 7 a day, which was no problem in November temps. :)

As per WDWinfo (DIS) the average walking distance per day is 9 miles

That sounds about right. Possibly more if you use Touringplans and do the backtracking exercises :)

Did you find last September humid? Of all our trips we found it the coolest and second least humid - second only to April. We were there from the 5th to the 23rd. But then I got terribly sick with a flu virus a week into our trip and was ill too the end so that might have altered my perception of temperature.
